i'm not sure wheter it was still used in the timespan EU plays in, but can you (when playing with Papal States) excomunicate (SP) countries?

That would be so cool.
Maybe (when you do this) giving all other catholic nations a cb as long as the excomunication lasts. And increasing the revolt risk?

And perhaps calling for a crusade? I believe the 7th or 8th was somewhere around 1400. Not sure.

But i would definatly like it if they have different optios compared to the rest of the nations.

I agree that excommunication is a good idea, but in my opinion it only makes sense if it's based on the decision of the monarch (pope), NOT the player.
That way, the monarch might excommunicate countries with -200 relations who step over the line... or he might not. Because if it's to have any effect at all, it's a too powerful tool for a player (or computer player) to handle... also it would make it more fun, giving the Papal player the power to nudge the pope, but never control him. (And "Temporary Insanity" events will be a lot more interesting in Rome )

Or at least, that's what I think.

But what about the sale of indulgences? Basically you could buy a "Get-out-of-Hell-free-card" for the right price. It was a major source of revenue for the Pope. It would be nice to have this in EU2. The profits could start out high and then decrease as time passes. Especially after the Reformation.

How about giving them the ability to annul marriages for a fee? The only country that could not have a marriage annulled on them would be who ever hold the HRE title. The benefits of one would be no CB on the country that asks for an annulment but it should cost you though.

These days it would be just an email sent out to all parishes. And they would be asked to pass it on to anyone they know.

For his last birthday, I bought my boyfriend a fifteenth century European bronze dagger (probably ceremonial) that had been unearthed near Syria. Now, everytime we're playing EU and we attack Turkey, he has to run downstairs to grab the dagger... I wonder what kind of prop I should buy him this year?
