I must complain that this decision is somewhat lacking flavour for the Papal State players. This decision is basically a mirror of creating Italy but with a very significant drawback - disabling the Curia, making Catholic the most pointless religion by that time. In my opinion blobbed enough Papal State should be enabled to conduct more critical role in combating the heresy and maintaing the role of the leader of the true Christian world. Refering to ideas of papocesarism and statements of Dictatus papae document I suggest that requirements to proclaim Kingdom of God on Earth should be made more difficult to achieve but after that the Pope should become eligible to become the emperor of HRE. I have no idea whether game mechanics can comply with this suggestion but still in my opinion something should be done to make this option more interesting. If my proposition is going too far I strongly voice for at least premanently binding the curia to the Papal State after declaring Kingdom of God.

Agree, but if you want to make that harder I suggest adding requirement of typical holy citites that would be relevant for the catholic pope to control:
- Constantinople
- Jerusalem
-... more?
Found this link to "top ten catholic holy places" :D http://www.catholic.com/magazine/articles/ten-catholic-places-to-see-before-you-die which mentions places in Spain, England, Austria and Bavaria. All a matter of how tough you want the requirement to be... which should of course stand in relation to how powerful the decision would be. ;)

KOG, already makes you permapope.
I thought this had been disproved multiple times on these forums, last time I checked manually was a couple of versions ago though... and now Wiz has said that Pope elections are more truthful... so maybe :)

Does it? Than I must have been mistaken. Last time I've played the Pope was just before Common Sense release. But the idea with being eligible for the HRE throne still holds up.

Agree, but if you want to make that harder I suggest adding requirement of typical holy citites that would be relevant for the catholic pope to control:
Jerusalem feels somewhat remote and insignificant concerning the imperial crown. I'd just stick to Avignon and, perhaps, Vienna which would force player to combat most dangerous European blobs.

I proved before that this is not the case.
KOG does not give you permanent curia controller bonus.
Some of these myths could easily be cleared by a dev just commenting on the issue.

I am sure that I got the curia controller bonuses as the pope in 1.12. I'll send some pics.

Curia controller bonus with the Kigdom of God exists and is (most likely) a bug.
The curia controller status keeps switching around between nations even after declaring KoG, granting the boni but not the papal actions.
This was my 1.12 bug report, including linked references. by my knowledge It has not been fixed yet (at the very least it wasn't fixed in the last beta and there was no documentation of it being fixed in the last patch)
I have no idea how long this bug is around, but I suspect quite a while: it wasn't easy to spot and would justify the rumors about KoG granting permanent curia controller to the Papacy (it is actually permanent sometimes).

I like the current KoG decision, because since it has drawbacks it requires actual decisional capability from the player, instead of being a no-brainer.
It is a very powerful decision when used wisely, just not in every game.

Disabling the Curia is a big drawback, but the worst part of that decision is that it does not change your name into "The Kingdom of God".

I am wrong, it does not make you permapope. Sad, really. Worked in 1.12 for me.
