Looking at yesterday's stream again, the Stalker has a proper camo pattern, it's just that odd colors are being used.

I just took it as Artisitc license since the Shadow Hawk publicity item did not strike me as a screen capture.That skin is a new mesh, not a just a color scheme.
Though unique Meshes would be entirely welcome. :bow:
Hmmm...It's true that the Alternate skin version isn't an in-game capture, but I would consider it pretty bad form if the pre-order bonus was just an alternate paint scheme given the variation from the baseline Shadowhawk.
I'm hardly Mr. Critical here, but anything less than a model looking like the one in the picture would be pushing false advertising, IMO. That would be for the Pre-order people more than the backers as we weren't promised anything like this in 2015, but it's still of significance in the court of public opinion.
I think HBS will deliver a fresh mesh and wouldn't risk the backlash that could come with showing concept art that was fundamentally different from the final deliverable. However, we shall see and I appreciate you bringing an alternate interpretation to the fore pre-launch - would be good to get some confirmation one way or another.
I do like that the iconic Shadow Hawk was the Mech selected as the Pre-Order Bonus "Alternative Mech Skin."

...don't forget to tell the OpFor to sit around on their thumbs while you drape plastic all over the Argo's mech bay for overspray, and don't sweat the report that your mechs are all out of commission for yet another week, while they get their fancy schmancy new duds applied.... oh, and those pilots will have to take a cut in pay to cover the costs of all that...
Op Granby, the RAF painted all their MT and GSE the night before shipping it out.

, and if it does well that gives the 'Mechtechs somethin' to do on the way to the contract planet .I wonder if they ever mentioned in the lore how 'Mechs get painted, I know in one of the Grey Death books it was specifically mentioned that their 'Mechs were painted in jungle camo for the contract they are heading to.

We do know that PGI makes alternative 3D models for their pre-order bonus 'Mechs, so there's a good chance that the Shadow Hawk is in fact a new mesh. Here's the MWO pre-order art for the Shadow Hawk:

The other OPFOR Mechs actually had symmetrical patterns more in the 'color blocks and racing stripes' school of design. You could create a camo scheme similar to that, but it would need some changes.
Then I guess it's true we really have only one scheme per chassis like Tyler wrote. I read it differently, but I see how your interpretation of that quote makes sense.
However, watch this at about 42:30 where Mike says that there might be about 6 schemes per Mech and then hHe and @HBS_Adarael elaborate on the system.
Things could have changed since then, but I suspect that the post from @HBS_Adarael above is actually just incomplete and he just omitted
All Stalkers having Camo and all Kintaros having racing stripes would be kinda weird.
If we could see a different layout in some of the schemes posted we would know one way or another, but I'm not hitting on that just yet. Here's the Kintaro from the Magistry Metals missions for good measure, but I can't tell one way or another.
Here's another Jenner, but it's hard for me to make it out with the lighting. But the Shadowhawk and Cataphract have camo going on and it seems highly unlikely that every single Battlemaster in the game is going to use that scheme with the tribal Tatoo stuff going on (not to mention it's different than the Beta pattern Battlemaster).

What I'm wondering is if you can have different patterns on a per-'Mech basis. Whatever colors you choose for primary, secondary, tertiary will be applied to all your units (and dropship!) equally, but can you have a Jenner with a camo pattern while a Stalker has blocks and a Hunchback has chevrons? Or if you choose a camo pattern, is it also applied equally to all units like the colors?
Yes, it would be. But that's how I read it. And I was shocked. But it's quite (hopefully) possible that I am wrong.
(The vid is from more than one year ago. We've seen things change during that time. So ...)
