will the pagan-christian civil-war have an appearance in the game?
if so, will you be able to play for example a pagan swedish kingdom? or are you limited to christianity regardless of said war?

Judging by the previews so far, you will probably be normally limited to the christian kingdom of Sweden, but I guess it will be easily moddable to actually run one of the "tribes" to the north and try to throw the christian kingdom out, claiming the kingship for yourself.

Kalontas, you overestimate the Christianization of Sweden at the time of the game's start. It is entering a large shift but Pagans were not some little group up by Lapland. The eastern half of the country was heavily Ásatrú and Uppsala (which was later made the capital of Christendom there specifically to stamp out it's influence) was a large center of Ásatrú. Sometime around the game start to a few decades ahead a civil war between a Pagan king in the east and a Christian one in the west began and lasted for about ten years and although there wouldn't really be pagan kings after that point that does not mean the people weren't still believers for quite some time depending on the area, the efforts to stamp it out and remoteness.

There were pagan provinces in about half of Sweden in 1066 CK1, so I'm sure they won't be silly enough to switch that around for the sake of Sweden's strength and unity towards other realms. It's not supposed to be the Great Power it was for portions of EU3. Also the Ásatrú (Norse faith) is confirmed as one of the religions in the "Pagan" group. You will have to enable them through modding until the expansion, but I guarantee that won't be a problem (will probably devote myself to it anyhow). As for the Civil War.. I haven't got a clue. I really wish we'd have the Civil War system of EU:Rome. It would make it so convenient to split it up without cause for concern.

I hope for your sake that there are not problems if you intermarry with Swedish pagans. In CK1, I once had a game as Kingdom of Leon where I married into my Muslim vassals' families. On the bright side, I actually had my grandson inherit two Emirates, one in Spain, one in Arabia, but on the downside he died a young man and his young Muslim son (Sayid Jimenez, i think he was called) and so suddenly game over. :( But a game file edit later and we were back in business ;)

The point is that the religious divide can be a bit too heavy. I do hope that pagan and Muslim succession laws are enacted for those realms to make their successions realistic, maybe Turkish Succession for most Muslims and semisalic for Berbers (for whom the eldest grandson inherited, if the titleholder's oldest child was female) and primogeniture or gavelkind for pagans.
