Hi, I just got CK and patched it up to 4a. I'm an old EUII player and so am used to the pacing and little tricks of EUII. I generally find myself trying to do too much at once with CK. How do people with more experience then me pace their gaming so they don't gwet sqaushed by the Arabs or find their duchys and countries rebelling after your armies have been completely destroyed?
Well, my game plan usually goes like this:
1. Build up your country a little
2. Get married to someone's eldest daughter so you can inherit them
3. Kick some pagan/muslim ass for piety and prestige
4. Use some prestige to grab titles, then actually go to war over them.
Its always good to get a bit of piety, as it helps your badboy go down over time - and u get badboy every time you grab or take a title from a fellow christian.
5. Ruler dies. Repeat 1-4.
Inbetween all this I assasinate my wife's brothers, hand out titles to relatives, build improvements and try to have as much fun as possible.
If you can keep your badboy no worse than "slightly tarnished", your vassals should not rebel too much.
And always make sure your best heir is the next in line, either by a sensible choice of inheritance law, excommunication or assasination.
For example, playing as the King of England in the 1066 scenario, the first thing you need to do is to get rid of your no-good eldest son.
