A problem my friend and I always have when playing HOI3 is the Pacific campaign. Either as America, Britain, or France, we always feel apathetic to that theater. Instead, we just put all our focus on the European theater. Even after knocking out Germany, we're often like: "Ughhh... Japan is still around :/ It's going to take forever to build a fleet to invade Japan (as Britain or France)." or even just how unenjoyable it is to island hop and constantly have logistical issues and just how non-maneuverable the ground combat is.

Now, I get that the Pacific front was like that. Very slow, it was secondary to the European front, logistical issues, largely a slow grind to (re)take islands and territory. But I wonder if HOI4 could make the Pacific front not only more enjoyable but also matter more.

Hong Kong, Indochina, Malaysia, Burma, even the islands. Having them get captured never reeeeaaaaally bothered us. Yeah we took hit in National Unity but it was suuuuper tiny or insignificant. The loss of the Dutch Indies, which historically really mattered, doesnt seem to be portrayed in HOI3 as much (HOI3 was pretty bad at portraying a lot of information to be fair). I think the only time a Allied nation should start to get worried is when Japan is closing towards India. And out of the many playthroughs we had, only once or twice did we have to fight it out in Burma as it was 'historically.' Now did we know the exact consequence of losing India? Actually no, but we assumed it mattered due to its size :V

In any case, I hope HOI4 makes the Pacific campaign more enjoyable and seem to matter more.

Eh, the impact of the loss of the Dutch territory will just be dependant on resource distribution, should be easy to fix even if it's not quite right on release. On the larger issues, the biggest problem with the Pacific front was the poor naval mechanics, which do seem somewhat improved. You also now have the option of ending a war before complete annihilation of one side, if you're not feeling particularly FDR; you could just do what the Japanese expected and resolve the war in the old colonial style, let them take a few islands and ignore their war in China in return for peace and getting the rest of the islands back, and go compensate the Dutch with some colonies somewhere else.

The alternative is always to let the AI deal with the island warfare, drop massive troop stacks in the Raj, then ally or invade China. It's only a short hop from Korea to Japan.

Seems unlikely. Transporting troops seems to be more automated but no air drops is going to be a problem.

Think I am actually just going to focus on china and then team up with Germany on USSR. Will probably then just rush USA with Airforce and Tanks. Pacific is so boring tbh.

I'd like to be able to assign fleets to troop transports and/or amphib invasions, you cannot control the entire sea but a fleet in being can control a zone as it crosses the ocean.
