overseas provinces

Hi everyone !
I'm quite perplexed with the whole overseas province thingy.
I thought that having territorial continuity was enough for the province not to be considered oversea
and yet here I am :

I was happy to annex Alger so I could have the continuity but for some reason I have adjacent provinces that are not considered the same : one is overseas, the other not ...

It is what it is. It's probably why there's no straits on Gibraltar.

Would it work if I took some anatolian territory to the ottomans and put my capital there ?

Yes, you can move your capital to Anatolia and conquer Syria. Your Iberian land will still be same-continent in that case.
