I'm playing a game where I have (again) built a fairly large empire, and my court is pretty big (diseases have been running rampant for well over a century). Now I'm constantly getting situations where one of my duke vassals revokes the title of his excommunicated, crazed, schizophrenic, inbred kinslayer count, who then ends up taking refuge in my court, taking his entire family with him. Even if I try to avoid producing more children in my court by not marrying my courtiers, these vagrants ensure that there is a constant flow of new people into my court.

So instead of all these useless dolts barging into my court without as much as a "please", would it be possible to have an event fire up that would let me tell these guys to sod off (with a small prestige penalty, perhaps)?

There are events fighting overpopulation in courts. The bigger the court, the more people will become seriously ill.

I know - like I said, the disease has been killing my courtiers for well over a century. I'd simply like to prevent things from getting worse because of these vagabonds that I never invited to my court in the first place.

Go conquer some pagans and grant out titles to those sick people.

Having a huge court is very bad in 1.05 as you can never know whether your soo nice and educated heir could be the next victim of illness spread.

Yeah, this irritates me greatly as well. Before refugees come to your court, I wish you'd get an event box to either allow it or disallow it. Nothing annoys me more than getting a whole brood of foreign heretics who start spreading their nasty disease through my court, killing off my family and it's closest friends. I hesitate to use the F-12 die command unless they do something particularly naughty...but I hate the idea of getting caught assassinating them. Either way, it's a crappy situation.

Well if you have a decent intrigue value, you could always just assassinate some of those useless courtiers ;)
Which leads to exploit in reducing BB which hasn't been addressed yet.

An event which allows you to exile courtiers not charing your religion would be great. In my current game with the kingdom of Jerusalem I had crushed some neighboring emirats and all their courtiers had arrived at my court now. What to do with all those muslims?

So only do that when you have 0 BB already. ;)

Doesn't this already exist? I know the inquisition events will fire and let you kill or "persuade" them to convert, but I thought they also offered a choice to just kick them out.

I did notice that when the court size is fairly big, events like courtiers asking for retirement become more frequent. Usually, it's those useless ones that want to retire, good riddance!

But getting swamped by refugees has not happened to me yet ... :D

I recall something like that from the betas, but it didn't fire in any of my regular 1.05 games.

Wouldn't it have been better, and perhaps more realistic, to have such 'exile' events fire instead of the current disease ones?

The idea is to reduce numbers of courtiers over time because the engine doesn't handle the growth of courtiers over time good, plus death rates were historically low in 1.04a.

The best thing to do with Mohammedans is sent all their children to learn at the church. All of them.

Then, when you take over Mohammedan lands, you install bishoprics. All bishoprics. Stick your Mohammedan men over there--not only do you prevent them from breeding--and filling up your court again when the Seljuks decide to make a move--but you also ensure that the rulers in those lands don't become Arabized, and you can culturally convert the populations.

Except during this timeframe, the population of muslims, commoner and nobility, actually increased, so unless we start doing it for catholics, who get extra conversion events which is what leads to the unhistorical catholic europe situations i've encountered and read others report, conversions of Catholicism and Muslims should be on par overall with orthodox slightly behind and paganism really far down low.

Perhaps the player's court could be excepted from the rule (or get a higher cap), but instead get much more frequent "I wanna retire into obscurity" events once over the current limit?
