Overlord wants to change my specialist type

I started with the Imperial Fiefdom origin and chose to be a Prospectorium. Now my overlord is proposing that i become a Scholarium. Is there a reason for this? I'm not materialist or have the technocracy civic. Is the proposal random or will i have to keep spending influence to avoid changing my specialist type?

Maybe the AI see that you have a better research output than them and want to put this to use?

In a game of mine my overlord wanted me to change to regular Vassal. It would be interesting if someone with knowledge of the inner workings here could shed some light on the overlords decision making for these kind of proposed changes.
