Love this game, but one thing annoys me a lot.
Overextension and annexation cost should not be static, but should depend on country's size compared to territories occupied, or annexing.
If country having 10 regions occupies another 2 regions (lets say same development level), that means it increased it's territory by 20%. But if same two regions are occupied by country having 40 regions - that is only 5% increase.
Therefore overextension should not be the same, because larger country has more resources to keep those new lands under control. Same goes to annexation cost and time. 40 region country could absorb 2 region vassal quicker and for less diplomatic cost compared to 10 region country annexing same size vassal.
I'm not saying the cost and time should be linear, as this might break balance if large country absorbs it's neighbors with geometrically increasing speed, but it could have at least 3 stages:
Normal - when Suzerain is up to 3 times the size of vassal
Increased - when Suzerain more than 3 times the size of vassal, but not larger than 8 times.
Quick - when Suzerain is 8 or more times larger than vassal.
Annexation cost in diplomatic points and time could be reduced:
Normal - 0%
Increased - -25%
Quick - -50%.
And same model could be used calculating overextension percentage too.
Such change could make late game more interesting with large superpowers more common and really big battles between really strong countries having 200-300 units in a battle.
What do you think?
