My example:

I'm King of Ireland, create a landed vassal as count in dejure land of Scotland. Scottish crown is independent.
I have high crown authority, Scotland has absolute. If it should work as i understand, the crown law of the dejure holder, in this case Scotland should apply.
Still it gets inherited by his brother, King of Germany and incooperates it into the HRE.

That should mean it's still bugged or why else ?

Crown authority and Inheritance are two different things, I believe.

Nope.

High Authority
"Vassal Inheritance can no longer pass outside the realm", besides the fact that it should say "dejure kingdom", instead of "realm".

The Scottish law on inheritances might in this instance only apply to vassals who are de-jure AND de-facto vassals of the Scottish crown. It's not what the tooltips say but perhaps this was the logic here... that in this case they do not apply the crown law to lands which are already held outside of the Scottish crown.

It wouldn't really make sense in any case, would it? The land is in Scotland but it's held by a vassal of the German Kaiser. Scottish crown law says "this land cannot be inherited outside the realm" but which realm does it mean? It is already part of the German realm so does it mean it cannot leave the German realm? Or does it mean it's not supposed to leave the Scottish realm? Then who is supposed to inherit it - the king of Scotland himself? That would remove the land from the German realm and from the family of the current holder, and put it into the desmesne of the Scottish king. This would be kind of stupid if this was an automatic mechanism because neither the German Kaiser nor his vassal could do anything about it.

Na, you misunderstood me i guess, the german King is the brother of the the guy that i gave Couny Atholl, now when he died, his german brother (king of Germany) inherited it.
I thought its still the way that if i am not the dejure liege that the law of the dejure apllies, which would have been Scotland in this case and not that there is no law at all.

I thought the dejure mechanic was intended to work like the historic situation for instance in France during the "Angevine Empire" era, when the french king still had a word
to say with inheritances in defacto english owned land in France.

In my case only the law "not outside the realm"(of Scotland) would have applied, which means an unlanded relative of him would have inherited.
No landed outsider, neither german nor irish could have inherited.

At least thats how i understood crown law dejure inheritance.
Was that never the case, was it intended to work that way or did they change it in a patch ?

Me confused.:wacko::laugh:

Btw, thanks for responding Leviathan.

I think this is where your issue lies. I recall the devs saying something along the lines of pre-1.08 games not working correctly and that you'd need to start new ones to ensure there weren't any huge bugs. I could be wrong of course, but playing a game in a new patch usually has some very weird... issues.

Oops, you're hopefully right Carmilla. I saw there were some bug fixes in 1.08 regarding inheritance and primogeniture. Had forgotte that they did so.
Hmm, might be the reason. Will check in my next game then.
Thanks

It sepends on order, when you describe situation you miss a few points.

Most lickly that happened.

First he inherited county and become your vassal. Then he inherited kingdom, become independed and took his county, It is his, he does not inherited it together with kingdom.
