I had this idea today, its far fetched, but could've been done I think.. Wilhelm II was still alive after all.

"It has been clear now for years, Hitler is going to lead us to our downfall. Leading members of Hitler's own cabinet, and a growing number of generals are supporting the removal of Hitler, and the installation of a 4th Reich, which would be more tolerable to other ethnic groups, and possibly maybe even bring us to peace with out enemies. We have the advantage now, but it is only a matter of time before Hitler tears down what we have worked so hard to build."

This will remove all the fanatic Nazi leaders, and install Wilhelm II as Head of State, and (Not sure if this could work) Rommel as head of government.

Of course it would switch to paternal autocrat, and it would add to more manpower due to the removal of persecution of minorities.

This could (If Britain is about to be defeated) return Germany all its WWII colonies, and lead to peace and normalcy in Europe once more.

Perhaps even (If Germany occupies all the provinces required" the return of the Austo Hungarian Empire. Therefore reinstating the imperialist German powers.

HOI can start 1936, and with Wilhelm in charge of the country again, he gets a spurt of life.

True. Technically, it would be switching one absolutist government for another but in the eyes of the world it would probably be the lesser evil. But I'm curious, what kind of triggers are you looking at? It sounds like your Germany would be doing well for this to happen. I know the Army was weary of the Nazis, but would they try to knock out the golden calf while the war was on AND Germany has the upper hand?

Maybe the trigger could be Operation Barbarossa? High command wants peace with the West before going after the soviets, Hitler refuses so they bring back the Kaiser:D

I like this idea. I always feel bad after taking over the world with Hitler as my Head of State and Nazis in the ranks. I've been tinkering for the last week or so on an alternate history mod that begins after the Blomberg/von Fritch crisis in Feb. 1938.
Basically, the war minister (Blomberg) and chief of army (von Fritch) were ousted from office on ridiculous charges brought forth by Goring and the SS leadership. It was after this that Hitler assumed control of the Wehrmacht.
Blomberg and von Fritch were highly respected, and many in the regular army were furious at the way they were treated. There was a lot of coup talk by Halder, Witzleban, and other generals, but it was nixed by Beck, who felt that the time was not right.
The scenario I'm working on takes place the day after Hitler assumes the position of war minister and assumes that a successful coup has taken place.

- Using the scenario editor and Harvard's site, I've set up a country centered around Nuremberg and Munich to represent a stronghold of Nazi hard-liners. I would like for this country to be playable, but it's turning into a pain in the ass...

-Germany proper starts out with abut 50% dissent but I've scripted a bunch of events that gives the player a reasonable chance to lower it (Hitler's treason trial, stuff like that).

-I've altered the alliances in the hopes of creating a scenario where it would be possible for a new anti-fascist/anti-communist Germany to ally with the UK against Italy, Spain, the USSR and maybe France. In addition, I would like to make an agressive Poland with claims on east prussia.

I'm stuck though because I'm 100% new to modding and dealing with tons of crashes. Right now my scenario editor won't load my custom scenario w/o a CTD.

This whole thing is inspired by a great alt/hist. timeline by Doug Hoff. You can read it here.http://www.althist.com/regime.htm

If anybody has any suggestions or ideas I'd love to hear them. At this point I'm starting to think I bit off more than I can chew...

I don't think the German Army would've overthrown Hitler until disaster was emminent. (Which happened in real life. The attempted coup didn't happen until 1944 after the Normandy invasions). There was talk about launching a coup for years, but it was just talk.
That being said, I think it would be awesome to have an event leading to Hitler's overthrow, but it would have to have a low chance of occuring and an even lower chance of suceeding. If it fails, there should be a lowering of dissent, and the loss of quite a few generals and field marshals. (Don't remember all of them, but among them were Witzleben, Rommel and von Kluge).
By the way, from what I've read the German Resistance wanted to form a Democratic Germany (By 1944 and the attempted coup) so they would've have brought the Kaiser back. Then again, the Kaiser was dead so who knows what would've happened if the coup was launched a lot sooner. :D

I myself think a coup success should be decided by a player. In a country without elections, thats just what it is. The player obviously plays as the people.

The stuff Apollo Creed mentions sounds like fun to me. Have you been able to make any more progress on this? I absolutely love that alternate history you mentioned by Doug Hoff and would love to play something along those lines. I don't know anything about modding at the moment but hope to put together some events for getting rid of Hitler in my Germany games. If I could get close to that alternate history you mentioned it would be even better....

Yeah, that timeline was sweet, huh? I'm stuck right now because of midterms and a sick scenario file. I have my Nazi-hardliner country scripted in text.csv and saved as a new scenario file, but it won't re-load after I quit the editor for the first time. Anybody have any ideas?

Don't you mean pre-WWI colonies? Well in Africa, Germany had been hoping to link its colonies in a big central african colonial empire by taking Belgian Congo and the Portuguese Mozambique and Angola.
