I've just received that message in my game as Saxony. I suppose that "generic treaty" was meant to be "peace treaty". A revolution happened in Saxe-Meiningen sometime in the later 1830s. The new republic allied itself to Switzerland (minor German republics seem to love the Swiss), but was promptly annexed by me. My peace treaty expired in 1845, giving me that strange message. On a side note, Switzerland is being smashed by the French at this point in time.

So we are saying generic peace = peace against annexed nation. Bug is that treaties should be cancelled when nation is annexed?

No, the generic treaty expired is a but related to any peace treaty.

For example, if I make peace with Italy, when that truce expires, it will say generic treaty expires.

I've seen this message a lot, especially since I've been at war with all those German minors many times when taking on Austria or Prussia.

I'm pretty sure there's no treaty named "generic treaty". And it was a "generic treaty" with Switzerland.

I've had generic treaties without annexations. I recall gotting it after an alliance expires as well, but I'm not sure.

I'd say they occur when the treaty was not drafted by your own hands, meaning if I'm in an alliance and that alliance gets a treaty (i.e. forcing it upon me, not being the leader) it's a 'generic treaty' for my nation.

Hmmm, be as it may, "generic treaty" looks a lot like:

Dear <fill the blank>, I take this opportunity to inform you personally that... etc, etc.

The best solution would be, IMNSHO, to replace the string "generic treaty" with "treaty".

Simple & effective! :D

The config/text file at line 1471 refers to a "generic" treaty, so the text is showing up in the game as written. Seems like they could have come up with something a bit more "atmospheric." I'll try changing to "generic" to "peace" and see what happens.
