I think I am going to try a WC attempt as the ottomons. I realize that I porbbaly won't make it, but it is worth a try.

Not sure on game settings (except I plan to use Ironman and not sure how that effects using favor player and easy difficulty).

Anyhow any suggestions from people on course of action.

I'm assuming my biggest issues are going to be a strong Russia, HRE (austria), and France. If they get too powerful they will be too hard to take out later (so I think focus on the big opponents first and come back for the smaller / low tech ones later).

Also I know there are a bunch of events that can trigger that have long term impacts. Any advice on these would be appreciated.

I doubt I'm going to get anywhere near a WC, but I'm playing an Ottoman game right now with the goal of crazy mindless expansion in all directions, mostly as an exercise in understanding vassals. Obviously, you want to conquer everything you have cores on, but you can diplomatically vassalize or PU most of the Sunni states on the map while focusing the majority of your conquests in Europe. I'm about 150 years in and my current empire stretches from India to Spain and includes Italy, Ethiopia, eastern Africa, and several colonies in the East Indies. I've gotten the whole North African coast and much of the Arabian peninsula through diplomacy.

If you're worried about Russia, I'd recommend that you go ahead and attack Crimea early. I still can't vassalize them due to the tax modifier even with the amount of land I own, so unless you get a lucky PU they're going to be in your way. You need to get up there and take out Muscovy before it gets powerful. Otherwise you will have a mess on your hands late game.

For Muscovy, ally Crimea and guarantee Novgorod.

Can you interact diplomatically with countries you haven't discovered yet? I actually don't know the answer to that. It seems illogical so I never tried.

But I can say that Novgorod was gone long before I even uncovered Muscovy, much less them.

Initially for the sultan of rum achievement I declared war on Ryazan without CB really early and annexed them/forged claim on Muscovy/released them. From there you can do whatever you want to them, they won't be a threat anymore. Idk how good an opening it is for a WC attempt though, but shutting down Russia is definitely an important point.

The most important part of any WC attempt is shutting down the colonizers immediately. As the Ottomans, that usually involves guaranteeing Granada and preceding to shut down Castile and Portugal. You can wait on conquering French coastal provinces for a bit but you pretty much have to immediately start conquering England. You don't have to completely conquer them, just take their coastal provinces.
