Doesn't "too much" mean "to be removed"? :)

There is a problem of balance: a huge advantage being shiite + orthodox group and avoiding problems with Safavids. Is this action only realistic for OE?

I tend to agree removal can't be a bad thing.

Imo this action is irrealistic for OE or any other country except Persia, but I don't know history of religions such as Shiite so I cannot know about alternative path as, for example, England going catholic can be.

If it would stay the penalties ought to be really bad - after all becoming shiite should counter all effects that becoming Khalifa had before and drop relations with every existing sunni country.

I agree that option C is poorly thought out. I think it is one of those jump off points for a fantasy sequence with more ramifications, (I'm not sure that +5 revolts risk for 180 is the best way to represent that) and as such sort a stub choice that needed fleshing out one day.

In my current game as Austria I was eagerly waiting for the events to trigger that gave me Bohemia and Hungary and in 1520 I was surprised:

22.09.1520 Ottomans had Mamluk uprising
23.09.1520 Suleyman rises to the throne
23.09.1520 Ottomans had conquests of Sul. the Lawgiver
27.09.1520 Suleyman demands the keys of Hungary.
27.09.1520 Hungary went with delay the ambassador
27.09.1520 Ottomans had Lajos insults Sul.
20.10.1520 Ottoman Empire had Lajos submits and the same day Hungary breaks all royal marriages and becomes a vassal of the Ottomans

A *month* later Lajos submits to Suleyman and Hungary becomes a vassal of the Ottomans...

That is not the ahistorical B choice. In that case Lajos would have submitted at once. But if Lajos insults suleyman then the next event should be the invasion of Hungary in which Lajos can either fight or submit - but only in 1526, not a month later.

Could there be an error in the TUR-HUN event sequence?

I even reloaded a savegame a month earlier and yet again the same choice of events.

Just a guess: Can it be that first event 19009 fired and HUN took a (Lajos insults) and then 188009 fired and HUN took b (Lajos submits)? Does the monarch trigger not work?
Should 19009 and 188009 sleep each other?
No, because in this way Janos II would submit and not Lajos as you previously posted.

I modified the sequence but I can't find a solution as for now...

AFAIK TUR_19011 fires only if HUN_19009 b is chosen, so not "messengers are delayed" but "we must submit".

We could try to postpone the startdate of TUR_19011 from 22 to 23 September 1520...

But HUN_19009 A already sleeps TUR_19011, that is why I told you that 19011 shouldn't occur when historical path is followed and in case of HUN_19013 an ahistorical action B wouldn't trigger TUR_19011 as this one is already made asleep!

What I cannot understand is why 19009 A isn't able to sleep 19011 in time for this latter to happen.

EDIT: it seems we need a duplicate for TUR_19011 to be fired with HUN_19013 B. As it is now 19011 is already slept if TUR_19010 has fired.
Or a better solution would be to simply remove the triggervent line from 19013 B.

A first attempt to find a solution to the sequence and substitution of 19011 with a new TUR event, which will follow an alternative path in case Lajos firstly insults Suleyman (historical path) but avoids fighting at Mohacs.

I have also covered Janos' path which ends without Mohacs, so no events between TUR and HUN until his death in 1540.

I have added some breakvassal lines in action B of both HUN "Suleyman Demands Our Submission" events, as to make a vassalization easier for the Ottomans:

The change of startdate is just to be sure that theese events start testing 19009 or 188009 after they eventually fired. But I don't know if it is really needed...

#-#After seizing Belgrade and several other key forts guarding Hungary, Suleyman gave Lajos one last chance to see reason. An uprising in Egypt gave Lajos another year of breathing space, but he was still unable to find support in Europe. With the Sultan at the head of an 80,000 man army, Lajos prepared to face him with only 30,000 men.

A new TUR event to deal with 19013 B:

Code:

Suleyman was now free to deal with the growing threat of the Portuguese in the Indian Ocean. Lajos' act of statesmanship, however, was to prove his undoing.;;;;;;;;;;

and a tweak here:

Code:
#(1526) The Assassination of Lajos II - Ahistorical - Lajos II submitted to the Sultan

		[COLOR=Yellow]OR = {[/COLOR]

command = { type = trigger which = 3642 } #Election of the King of Bohemia #BOH: The Death of King Lajos of Bohemia

#-#The nobles of Hungary were growing increasingly dissatisfied with the leadership of the boy-king. His failure to join the League of Cambrai against Venice and take back Dalmatia was not well-received. Submitting to be the vassal of the heathen Turks was the last straw. On August, 22, 1526, King Lajos of Hungary and Bohemia was assassinated by a conspiracy of nobles.

What about?

EDIT: updated events as per post #764

Were the sleepevents added in the beta versions?
Because my HUN 19009 has no sleepevents in it which would be the reason that this was possible.
I can't remember when but now I am testing 155 beta5 and they are there. Need to read compiling 1.55 under bugfixes in case...

Some more changes in the sequence of Suleyman and Hungary+Austria:

As to avoid any further confusion to this already very complicated sequence I suggest some changes in text and references to HUN_19018 and HAB_3186 both in related events and text.csv entries:

#-#With Lajos II dead, Suleyman ordered the nobility of Hungary to chose whomever they wished to be king, so long as he was not a Habsburg. Most of the nobles voted for János Zápolya of Transylvania. Led by the nobility of Croatia, however, any nobles argued for Ferdinand of Austria, despite the Sultan's orders, saying that only he could protect them from Suleyman.

#-#Lajos II (Louis), king of Hungary, Bohemia, and Croatia, was the last of the Jagiello dynasty in the two kingdoms. While riding with his companions on a hunting trip, King Lajos fell off his horse after it was suddenly startled, causing him to break his neck. Lajos left no direct heir. The Diet, Hungary's Parliament, convened to decide who would be the dead king's successor. Two factions formed around the candidates who were most likely to succeed him. The first was Louis's brother-in-law, Ferdinand of Habsburg, and the other was János Zápolya of Transylvania. Ferdinand's claim was supported by Spain, Bohemia, England and the Papacy, while France, the Ottoman Empire, and Poland backed Zápolya. The Diet voted to give Zápolya the crowns of Hungary and Croatia. Ferdinand lauched a lightning campaign against the disorganized kingdom, and managed to secure a portion of it for himself.

#-#The Hungary nobility was able to keep Hungary from being absorbed into the Austria state for almost 170 years. The Habsburgs were forced to rule Hungary as a seperate state until the early 18th Century.

...of course modifications in event- hist- and actionnames are modifications to text.csv! ;)

#-#Lajos II (Louis), 1506-26, king of Hungary and Bohemia (1516-26), son and successor of Uladislaus II. He was the last of the Jagiello dynasty in the two kingdoms. In the face of intensified attacks by Sultan Sulayman I, Lajos hastily sought (1526) to unite Hungary and Christendom behind him, but only the pope sent help. With a pitiful army, Lajos joined battle with the Ottomans at Mohács. The Hungarian army was destroyed, and Lajos was killed. Only the ambitious John Zapolya had failed to arrive in time for the battle with the army he was bringing from Transylvania. Through the marriage treaty concluded by Lajos father the crowns of Hungary and Bohemia passed to Louis's brother-in-law, Ferdinand of Habsburg (later Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I), but Hungary fell under Ottoman rule.

In 1540, while putting down a revolt in Transylvania, János died from illness, just three weeks after his Polish princess-bride had given him a son, János Sigusmund. With Zapolya's death, Ferdinand again invaded Hungary to try to claim his inheritence. Finally the Ottoman Sultan, having had enough with the chaos in his vassal, Hungary, split the country into three parts. He kept Southern and Central Hungary for himself, giving Eastern Hungary to János Sigusmund, while Ferdinand held the Western portion. Hungary would remain divided between the three countries for the next 170 years.

Still changes...

Wouldn´t it be better for the flow of wars that the Ottomans not get all that cores already in "Demanding the keys to Hungary" TUR 19008?

The need to conquer Hungary is explained in the event texts as the threat that the Habsburgs could unite Austria with the Crown of Hungary - threatening the Ottoman Empire.

But if Suleymans demands are met by Hungary, if Lajos submits and becomes a vassal then for the moment no wars against Hungary and Austria are needed and TUR could concentrate on it´s other cores.

The Hungarian cores could be added peacemeal in event
TUR 19010 (Lajos insults the sultan). The event text mentions that Suleyman thought that seizing a few key border forts would be enough. Here the core on the Banat of Temesvar could be added).
and
TUR 19022 "to Vienna!" the cores on Austrian provinces such as Vienna, Krain, Odenburg or Croatia
TUR 19023 "to Buda!" the cores on the rest of Hungary.

Because my HUN 19009 has no sleepevents in it which would be the reason that this was possible.

I wonder why I update a changelog in first post of Compiling thread. :)

@ConjurerDragon: it is recommended for modders to use last available beta.

Of course you will only find ids and references for bugfixes. I can't do it for submissions and proposals (not yet submitted or for tests) because of the time it would require.
Nothing is modified if not mentioned in changelog (at least if I don't forget... :eek:o ). I even have a separate changelog for modified entries in text.csv for translaters of the mod.

Partly agree, but TUR_19022 and TUR_19023 are alternative paths: 19022 fires if HAB_3186 is triggered (ie HUN submit to TUR) while 19023 fires if HAB_3185 or HAB_179131 have fired (ie HUN submits to HAB).

Cores could be however added after 19008 but I don't know when and how...

I would suggest to remove the cores from TUR 19008. The event text itself states that IF Lajos/Janos had submitted and agreed to the Ottomans demands (no Habsburg on Hungarys throne, vassal to TUR) then Suleyman would have seen no need to invade. So TUR needs no cores on Hungary AND Austria in this moment. And as the event speaks of if Austria gains the throne of Hungary it would be "within striking distance of constantinople itself" I would say that either Austria or Hungary must be neighbours of the Ottomans.

Moreover, the Habsburgs had a potential claim to the Hungarian throne. Should the Habsburgs seize that throne, their armies would be within striking distance of Constantinople itself. In order to fend off this developing threat, Ottoman diplomats strove to strengthen relations with Venice and France. Hungary, however, must pay tribute to the Sultan, must grant the Ottoman troops transit rights through their country, and must renounce all ties with the Habsburgs. If they refused, war would surely follow.

If after the demand of the "keys" Lajos or Janos do not submit (a choice) the Insult of Suleyman follows. In this event text the Ottomans are mentioned to expect a few seizures of key border forts enough to get Hungary reasonable. So I would add here only those cores on the border like the Banat of Temesvar.

Code:

Edit: I remembered the thread about Trebizond in which the Ottomans need a certain size to get Trebizond. I think that to demand the keys to Hungary the Ottomans need at least the same minimum size.

About cores, the problem here can be in case Ottoman Empire vassalizes Hungary, that is the HUN monarchs submitted to the Sultan. In this case when should TUR get those cores? In 1526 when "the Turks respond" (ie, to Vienna! and To Buda! events) or in 1540 when Zapolya dies?

Ottoman Empire needs historical cores in Europe sometime in the future and cores can also make the diplo-annexation easier for Ottoman Empire.

Diplo-annexation of a christian hungary by a sunni Ottoman Empire? That is possible?

If Lajos/alternatively Janos submit to Suleyman using the B choices of either event 19009/188009 or 19013 there will be at this time no Habsburg monarchs, Hungary will be an Ottoman vassal and the threat perceived is prevented. The Ottomans will need no cores on Austria and Hungary at this time because they have got what they wanted.

If Lajos/Janos insult Suleyman using the A choice then 19010 or 301066 will trigger. In both the borderland Banat of Temesvar should be added as core for the Ottomans which is approbiate for the description in the event text.

In HUN 19013 B (invasion of Hungary, Lajos submits to TUR) the province of Serbia is ceded to and Hungary becomes a vassal of the Ottomans. Should not in HUN 19009 B and 188009 B (Lajos/Janos submit and become vassals) also Serbia be ceded to the Ottomans? And in addition the cores of Hungary on Bosnia, Serbia and Dalmatia be removed? Dalmatia just in case that Hungary ahistorically did not sell the core to Venice.

Sorry, I meant the inherit command we have in 19021 A. The cores could keep the vassalization of Hungary until her annexation.

Even if Lajos or his alternative monarch submit, shouldn't we grant some cores in Hungary to the Ottomans? How could they keep these provinces instead and until 1700s? What about future wars against Austria and the siege of Vienna of 1680s without a Turkish core on Austrian provinces?

EDIT: so imo events TUR_19019 and 19021 (due to fire in 1540) should have these cores on Hungary at least and eventually on Austria. And in this case cores should be given according to historical outcome ( except Ruthenia, Transylvania, Maros, Magyar. Pest, Carpathia) + Austria (prov #351) for permanent casus belli.

I do not understand what you mean here. Having cores makes a vassalization last longer or better?

The turkish cores go at that time in the balkans Dalmatia-Bosnia-Serbia even before this sequence. That is the reason that I asked if Hungary should give up the cores on these same provinces if it takes the ahistorical b choice in one of the 3 events and submits to the Ottomans.
Do you have an opinion on that point? Should the turkish vassal Hungary keep the cores on Bosnia/Serbia/perhaps Dalmatia or should these be removed if Hungary submits in the submission eventchoice?

We are currently discussing only the b choice. The ahistorical choice of the hungarian ruler to submit to the Ottomans. Only in this case the demands of the Ottomans are fulfilled and they have no need to conquer Hungary - or even to lay siege to Vienna as they did the first time historically - as the threat that the Habsburgs will rule Hungary is gone (at that moment) and Hungary is an Ottoman vassal - a buffer state.
In this case the Ottomans would need the cores only after Lajos dies or the vassalage is broken.

Edit: But in that case they would get the cores after 1520 and here is the Ottoman 1419 - 1520 thread. Should we continue here or in the other Ottoman thread from 1520 onward?
