Which nations other than that have fleshed out events and missions that make them unique and interesting to play?

Ethiopia has a ton of events.

Go to your steam folder and select properties>local files>browse local files and then go into the events folder. It has word files of the events for everything in there. The titles of the nations for those event files are in short hand, but it's kind of obvious which is which.

You're forgetting the Netherlands as a major European power,
and they even have a DLC that adds more cool stuff for them (Res publica) so there's your next game: play the Dutch Republic

ethiopia has some stuff that come completely out of left field. African nations popping out of nowhere, animist stealing half your nation, etc.

Persia has some interesting anti ottoman events/missions.

Vaginagar into hindhustan is fairly intricate with the hindhu gods and dealing with all the other powers.

Ming is a mix between eastern france and OH MY GOD REBELS EVERYWHERE! Has some fun events that cause mass panic.

Japan has some cool events.

Venice is surprisingly fleshed out. Lots of events, but if you go after the ottomans first you do not get a lot of them.

Denmark has a bunch of events, as does sweden.

The Magreb (tunis and morroco) has a bunch of new random events, first they just tank your nations economy but then things start to turn around a bit. Very challenging, especially with the ibereans.

Songhai in Africa has some cool events.

Ayuthra (south of china, cant remember proper name) and Malaysia have some events and interesting playstyle.

Manchu-Qing are not that fleshed out event wise, but is fascinating transfering from khanate, to nomad monarchy, then asian empire. Dealing with korea, ming, and the various hordes is also challenging, and then raid boss Russia.

I'm surprised no one mentionned Mamlukes. Not the most flavourful but definately one of the best picks outside Europe (Vijayanagar is the most flavourful out of majors to me). Timurids/Mughals have some, but you probably will miss a good share of it as some events/missions require Persia. I saw mention of Burgundy; that's a massive event file but if you check it, you'll find out it is mostly all about Burgundian inheritance in its various forms (for the HRE, for France, for those not inheriting,...).

India has a number of nations with a decent amount of events since AoW; I don't have all in mind but I can think of Bahmanis, Benghal and Gujarat.

In Europe, out of the majors you've listed, I think Bohemia does. Several HRE minors also have but it's one/two events mostly. There are also powerful nations, not as flavorful as majors, but still with more flavor than most of other nations; Lithuania and Hungary come to mind. Persia got a good share of flavour as well.

If you take the file size of their flavor events as an indicator then the most fleshed-out non-Europeans (specific countries, not religions, regions etc.) are:

1. Japan (55k, more than Austria, Poland, Denmark and Portugal) (Note that Ryukyu gets a lot of their stuff, so some of it seems to be tied to culture, not tag)
2. Ming (21k)
3. Ethiopia (20k)
4. Persia (16k)

Generally Hindu and Muslim nations have a LOT of events (like ~40 for muslim religion and ~40 for hindu if I remember properly) but I am not sure if you don't need particular DLCs to that flavour


West Africa has 25 unique events while North American Tribes have not much but still offer very unique gameplay



The least fleshed nations are currently from
- Central/South America
- Buddhist Group
- Eastern Animist Africa
- Siberian tribes


Siberian tribes are currently so awful I consider them alpha, I mean they don't even have unit sprites and their armies walk with 'basic Western pikeman' from 1444 to 1821 :/ Also they have nothing unique except NIs, they have no historical immersion as historically these four tribes had less than few dozen thousands of people combined (honestly I don't even know why they are considered countries in EU4 while there are no Zimbabwe/Lake Victoria civilisations or even colonisable provinces in the game...) and they don't offer anything interesting - conquer three other tribes as fast as you can and wait for... Uhm... Spain and Portugal colonising Siberia to westernize... Well yeah, this is also kinda immersion breaking

Well, technically you could say that Japan is an entire region, even if it does form into a tag at the later starting dates. (And usually forms without fail in regular gameplay.) There are twenty daimyo tags for Japan in-game, eleven of which appear from the very start.

I suppose you could say that Japan having all these tags also counts as fleshing out, of course.
