Well like it or not, the SS were there on the battlefields of Europe in the Second World War... as long as they're keeping their reenactment to the actions in battle against other soldiers, I have no problem with it. When you start to try and sweep things like this under the rug, does it gain a greater mystique with twisted people who think the SS were "cool".

The way I see it, as part of the post-war de-Nazification process they adopted the formula SS=bad/Wermacht=good. As part of the process revising prior drafts of history, I think it's acceptable and desireable to add some precision to this simplification.
But by the same token, as it stands right now the SS *is* immensely freighted with political baggage. So anyone that associates himself with the organization should expect the burden of proof to fall on them.
As far as your statement that only twisted people think the SS was "cool," you have to admit they had a great fashion sense.
You really think so? My impression is that until fairly recently the Wehrmacht was given a pass for it's participation in East Front atrocities and not that much mention was made of Rommel's toadyism to Hitler.
Heh heh, in my old SCA days a few years ago, I would be part of medieval battles that had a few thousand on each side. Plus be around 10,000 or so other people all dressed in medieval gear for a week (on on various other weekends throughout the year).
