It's games like that which made me decide that I hate playing the Advance Variation against the French Defense. (Against the Caro-Kann is a different story, for some reason.)

If you play it really well, you can have an almoust untouchable pawn-triangle though. :3
(though that leads to draws, more than anything else)

So given the sluggish rate at which games are being played, I might be removing certain players from the tournament once more. Or I might not bother, since it's the last round. Candidates for removal include @Kaisersohaib, @Spockyt, and @LatinKaiser, all three of whom have not played their games from the previous three rounds and have (mostly) showed little to no sign of attempting to do so, either.

Round 9 is going to go out on Wednesday night, most likely. Please get your games in before then, if possible.

Also, @De Chatillôn has clinched the tournament win outright with his victory in this round, but second place is still up for grabs. If there's a tie for second at the end of round 9, I might just not care, or I might break it with some blitz games.

I'm still too lazy to do round 9 just now, so the pairings will come out tomorrow. All players still "in" the tournament will be paired regardless of activity level, and I'll probably just give draws to everyone who has not played by the end of the round, unless one player attempts to claim victory.

Take note: these games will be resolved, one way or another, by the time I declare round 9 to be over. The resolution method is as follows:

Start a conversation with me and with your opponent who has not played you in order to claim victory. Your opponent will be given 48 hours to respond and arrange a time to play with you. If no response is made and no agreement to play takes place (within reason; for instance, if the conversation-starter declares himself too busy to play at any time I may deny his claim), the person who initiated the conversation will be given a forfeit win.

If neither player initiates a conversation with me, the unplayed game will be declared a draw.

Complaints about this method of resolution may be directed to @Ironhide G1, who is probably about as likely to listen to them as I am.
