Hi all, I've been playing CK2 since July with no problems until last night... All help will be appreciated.
Mid 2012 MacBook Pro
2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
OS X 10.9 (13A603)
I play through Steam (other games I have purchase through Steam open and run smoothly). Game was working fine yesterday when it unexpectedly froze. I turned my computer off and restarted and then attempted to play again by opening Steam and pressing the "Play" button. The CK2 app icon appeared on the dock momentarily and bounced for a second before disappearing. I retried opening the game several times. I restarted my computer. Still nothing. I uninstalled CK2 and reinstalled. Still nothing. I then uninstalled and reinstalled Steam. Still nothing.
At this point I decided I would just reinstall from my Time Machine back up from two days ago. I attempted to do this and was startled to find out, after it had already deleted all the information on my HDD, that there was some sort of error when trying to restore my files. I tried this several times. Finally I had to go to a separate external HDD that I hadn't backed up to in awhile. As such, when I completed my restore it was back to OS X 10.8 on a system that had never had CK2 installed. I installed it successfully and tried to run the vanilla game and the exact same problem happened. So I went ahead and reinstalled OS X 10.9 and fully updated all software. I finally tried deleting all local content of CK2 and using the Properties > Delete Local Game Content option in Steam and reinstalling a final time. Still nothing.
Thanks.
Edit:
I suppose I should mention that I do not get any error message and I had been successfully playing since the 2.01 patch. I initially made the thread because my problem was slightly different (wouldn't open even after crashing) then the other similar Mac Launcher problem thread and the workaround suggested there wasn't working... But it has just started working (maybe because of restarting Steam). I apologize for the similar thread.
