I agree with you Vincent on your assement of Halifax he wasn't some foaming in the mouth Anti-Smite who couldn't wait to get into to power to teach them all a lesson. However if I was to male a judgement of Halifax in 1940 I would say he was a beaten man and would probably accepted a reasonable offer from Hitler if one came. I would also rate him (in line with many members of his class) anti-communist. However at the same time I would not see him in any hurry to enact some sort of Nuerenburgh laws to keep Hitler Happy.
