Hello!
May I suggest some orthography changes in croatian files? I've changed mine a long time ago, but it's killing me that I can't play Ironman with it. I hope you see this as an attempt to help and to further better the game. Here it goes:
* In ...\history\countries = CRO - Croatia:
..there is monarch named John Hunyadi; croatian name for John is (and was throughout history) Ivan, but as he was of hungarian origin, his name originally was János. The same goes for his son László:
John Hunyadi = János Hunyadi = Ivan Hunyadi
László Hunyadi = Ladislav Hunyadi
The rest are mostly our characters (Č, Ć, Đ, Š, Ž) - I think you can put them in, cause in \common\countries = Croatia, there is (under leader_names) Draškovic, which should be Drašković. Or if you can't put all our characters in, then rename it to Draskovic. If you can, then (we're still in \history\countries = CRO - Croatia):
Blaz Madar Podmanicki = Blaž Mađar Podmanički
Ivan Ernust = Ivan Ernušt
Petar Berislavic = Petar Berislavić
Ivan Karlovic = Ivan Karlović
Toma Bakac Erdody = Toma Bakač Erdödy
* and in ...\common\countries = Croatia:
under monarch_names =
Kresimir = Krešimir
Almos = Almoš
Goislav = Gojislav
Slavic = Slavac
Caspar = Gašpar (although I like Caspar, it sounds like Casper the Friendly Ghost
)
Fauszty = Faust
Zvonomir = Zvonimir
under leader_names =
Blagai (Blagaj) is actually a city name; duke Ivan Babonić got the adjective Ivan Babonić of Blagaj (cro: Ivan Babonić Blagajski) after the battle in the city of Blagaj and was later named viceroy of Croatia. That's how most of them got their adjectives; like Bužimski (city of Bužim), Celjski (city of Celje), Krbavski (Krbava river - Battle of Krbava Field)...anyways, I'm ok with those adjectives being in, I've just added our characters (which did exist in those times):
Blagai = Blagaj or Blagajski
Buzimski = Bužimski
Cesnegic = Češnegić
Crnkovic = Crnković
Derencin = Derenčin
Draškovic = Drašković
Kaniski = Kaniški
Lackovic = Lacković
Radic = Radić
Subic = Šubić
and I've added few more:
Domagojević
Franić
Hrvatinić
Keglević
under ship_names =
These are mostly names of our islands, and again - I'm ok with it, just few changes: like, goli simply means naked; there is Goli Otok (Naked Island) famous for its prison (Alcatraz style, now closed) and barren landscape, from which it got its name. So it should be "Goli Otok":
Goli = "Goli Otok"
Krl = Krk (just a typo I assume).
As I'd like more names here, I've added few more island names:
Bratin
Briuni
Kornati
Lokrum
Mana
"Sveti Petar"
Velebit (mountain)
And as Adriatic sea was famous for its pirates (cro: gusari) (even Jack Sparrow sailed across the Adriatic at some point before he joined the East India Trading Company), I've adeed some more names of their bases (old city/area names and such):
Klis
Narenta
Oneum
Rabatta
Senia
Zara
Thanks for reading this! If any of this would be implemented, I'd be happiest little hippo
I can back this up if you're interested and do the same for Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro.
Oh, and - I know this is highly unlikely, but please would you consider changing that puke-like color of Croatia? I'm using Mughals green (33 96 48) cause our units are already green and no nation nearby is using similar color. Pretty please?
Anyways, thank you again for your time and for this amazing game!
