I got bored by the variation of picks I can take for Necrophage, so I think it is useful to have them reworked. I would introduce a different system if I would be in mood, but as the time I have is limited I come up with this fast system.

The main idea is to select the origin first, and planet after it then the species.
As such one selects one of two until four/five main categories:

Already integrated in Necrophage is -- Syncretic evolution

The order is the following now, after a if/then rule
  • Subterranean
  • Non-Subterranean
    • Normal
    • Aquatic
-
  • Collective mind
    • Hive
      • Machine
      • Biological
  • Individual mind
    • Syncretic Yes
      • Normal
      • Necrophage
      • Lythoid
      • Toxoids
    • Syncretic No
      • Nomral
      • Lythoid
      • Toxoids
"Prosperous Unification" is a useless start, as a Gaia would suggest more population as this start.

Player takes five different stages of modularity for individualization
Defined order to pick:
  • Planetary modularity
    • Technological approach
      • Planet scenarios
        • Empire cooperation mode
Together they build one origin pick!

We can then differentiate from planetary base conditions like:
Planetary modularity:
  • Life seeded
  • Post-Apocalyptic
  • Remnants
  • Shattered Ring
  • Void Dweller
Technological approach:
  • Teachers of the shroud
  • Overtuned
  • Outstanding insight
  • Mechanist
Modular scenarios for the planet are:
  • Lost colony
  • Galactic Doorstep
  • Doomsday
  • Knights of the Toxic God
  • Here Be Dragons
Mode of cooperation and state of the empire:
  • Scion
  • Imperial Fiefdom
-
  • Hegemon
  • Common ground
Others
  • Slingshot to the stars
As such origins should be more individualistic.

What on earth are you talking about? You can take any origin you want with Necroids. The only origins that are species-locked are Calamitous Birth for Lithoids and Resource Consolidation for Machines. And you can select aspects of your empire in any order. Just, like... go back up the list.

I legit can't understand a single line of this post. Not the complaint, not the suggestion, not the nested bullet lists.

If you say the pictures resemble the phenomenological individual characteristics that Necroids transform other species into their own, then you are wrong. Is this function disabled a Necroid is just a plant, mammal or whatever their picture is derived from.

A Necroid isn't any longer a Necroid if you don't play it with Necrophage! As such I see Necroid and Necrophage as one entity.

Maybe:
Add Necrophagic Ascension?
So you can start as Empire of Man, but later in the game decided that you want to transform into necrophage specie spending your AP slot.
This is probably not an optimal play in any way.
But if that is your story go for it, might be cool.
