Hi, I'm playing my first run post-patch with the new dlc as Austria.

I declared on bohemia with the restoration of union CB which I gained by completing the "secure electors" mission.

However, I noticed that taking bohemia under the union causes a few dozens of nations to join coalition against me.

I recall that this was not the case pre-patch and restoration of union CB had fixed warscore of 60 and significantly lower AE.

Is this burst in AE intended or is there something I'm failing to understand?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Apparently it is intended..

Very disappointing, I was looking forward to trying an Austria game tonight to play around with the new HRE monuments, but I think I'll stay on 1.31.6 for a while longer. It's ridiculous how one PU gives you enough AE to cause massive coalitions all over the place.

In one France game I was able to get several PU opportunities in Italy, and after pursuing them and the subsequent reconquest wars nobody had reached 50 AE with me, except perhaps Naples. So maybe the PU AE was a bit low, but now I think it's tipped a little too far in the other direction.

Very disappointing? The Restoration of Union CB is an OP mission and I am glad that this opening move has got nerfed a little.

EDIT: You don't have to hate on me, that PU AE doesn't WAD, lol.

Thx for the help. By the way it seems like this "fixing of AE as intended" altogether makes obsolete most of the mission trees of the nations in the HRE which grants restoration of union CB.

Point taken. However, it must also be considered that every other missions that follows this restoration of union cb is pretty much blocked. Especially within the HRE.

While it is working as designed, the many mission trees in Europe were designed around the fact that you did NOT get so much AE in the first place.
We will address this issue for the hotfix

It makes sense to gain more AE for forcing a PU over a nation than in 1.31. but now forcing a PU over a large nation is more or less a self destruction button.

I would like to remind the dev team that some PU's are massive and some mission trees give multiple PU's over large nations. I get you want to make it more challenging, but mission trees like Hungary and Austria are more or less nerfed into the ground now as they rely on you being able to force multiple PU's over large nations.

And as the poster above indicates; either the AI can't handle it and kills himself or will have to ignore it's entire mission tree.

Also with PU's being the way they are now and regular conquest being cheaper and easier, maybe the use of forcing a PU has been made obsolete? Unless you get to integrate it for free through decision like Lithuania or Aragon.

Because even the AI gets coalitioned when they complete their PU missions. Do you really want to see Austria get killed by the HRE every other game?
The Burgundy AI has missions to take 200 aggressive expansion worth of provinces, and its coded not to do it all at once. Austria should simply not declare war on Bohemia until it can manage the AE.

I would like to give another example of a nation that was great fun to play but now isn't as even forming Bavaria is impossible now until much later in the game.

both PU's give 49 AE causing most of Europe to hate you if you take it right away.

Be serious. It's the 1st mission of the tree. How many time to manage +108 AE with only one mission?

The single PU CB gives 80+ AE. It can NEVER manage that AE. NEVER.

What? Burgundy does not have a mission to take 200 AE worth of provinces at once.. If you mean their subjugation missions that the AI never gets anyway, that is also not 200AE unless you subjugate practically all electors in one war. The subjugation CB incurs the same amount of AE as the force PU CB now and you can see what PUing Bohemia would give you as a catholic with no AE impact reduction.

You'd have to stack a lot of modifiers to do so at least. 10% AE from spy network, papal controllership, Bohemia going hussite would help, excommunication, events or espionage ideas; but for the planets to align enough, you'll have to wait quite a bit and you'd be stuck for quite some time after.

It's odd that this didn't pop up in play testing? I mean Austria is not a niche country to play as...
Paradox should really let someone play a campaign on every major country at least.

It does have a feeling of Devs doing automated testing and not playing the game to see how their change impacted the product.
