By chance I connected to comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.war-historical to see if anyone was talking about EU, and lo and behold found this message:
The Good News: Oranje's work must be near the top of some search engines, hopefully you're getting a lot of deserved hits for the all the work you have put in.
The bad news; I never really considered the problems of piracy before, I didn't know the problem was so rampant until I checked a couple of other newsgroups where people actually post binaries of games! How do these groups get away with this? For me, every $ that paradox loses is a $ they can't use to continue their great work. Without going into detail (I don't want to know any specefics) how is it that so much software is stolen? I have a hard enough time keeping track of my own logins at work and the names of our servers. How can these people break in?The game is great, but somewhat confusing at the very first go... I've
since gotten the hang of the things that messed me up the first try, and am
ready to try one of the large scenarios. I think I'm going to try Spain in
the Grand Campaign.
(I'm still curious as to the person who lives up here in Canada with me that
already bought the game in the store... I got mine from W. Canada's
distributor, who happens to be a close friend, and only just got it....
How'd he buy it retail already? Must have a better distributor
At any rate, the game just rocks!! I'm of the opinion that it's not a true
wargame, it's more of an empire builder, but that it does belong in this
forum (for interest's sake only, not opening that can of worms again) but
I've gotta tell you, it has that 'feel' to it... A great game!
It had no bugs that I can see, save that it twitches (under my Win2K) if I
get an ICQ message or something, and will occassionally crash under these
circumstances. Turning off messenger and ICQ solves this.
I did some research to get answers to a few questions that the manual did
not address to my satisfaction, and came across a quite comprehensive FAQ.
The link for those who are interested, is http://home.hetnet.nl/~copia-fs/
.....
Are there any others here yet with any experience with this game?
And if anyone is interested, I'll put up a general message as to how it
works, plays, etc.
