Hi folks, can anyone explain what the :-

1. Forced Annexation
2. Dynamic Missions
3. Base Victory points

do?

This was mentioned in an earlier thread but not really answered. I can't find any reference to these optional rules in the manual.

Also what settings do people normally choose for them?
Thanks, Chris

One other thing that I'm wondering about :-

When fog of war is on, what determines what provinces are highlighted?
It seems to be provinces adjacent to ones own, but also some provinces
further away - any one know why some more distance provinces are shown
in more detail?

Dynamic missions, I believe, are the little random VP missions you can take to boost your points, like "No France in North America" or "Alliance with Wurtemburg" or whatever.

Base Victory points... hm, I'm not entirely sure but it sounds like the amount of VP a nation starts with at the beginning of a scenario.

Hope that helps. :)

Oh yeah, normal settings for 'em: (for me anyway)

Annexation-on
Missions-on
Base VP- I have no idea, sorry.

Otoh -

Dynamic missions, if on you will get assigned a random mission if no missions are active.

Base VPs - I think this option resets your VPs to 0 everytime your king dies..

I don't understand how it can reset to 0 when your King dies? How would you win the game? It makes no sense to me

Dunno - never tried it.. on the other hand I only cared about VPs once, usually you can tell without score whether you 'won' or not. (Quite possibly all other nations would get zeroed upon changing kings too, if that is what happens..)

Also, can u get negative vp? During a game i checked the red book thing and it said -426 vp for my current monarch. maybe it was a mistake because when i added up the vps i think it meant +426?!

Ledger for monarchs is bugged - I think they begin their life with negative VPs = what you had when they ascended, reduced then for what you earn during their lifetime. (This is part of why I believe that base VP turns saving of VP on/off)

But you can get negative VPs in game too, just start a game and DoW something the first thing you do, that should put you at -1 VP IIRC..
