I'm sure someone else has already brought this up, but I haven't seen any threads so I have to ask...
My friends and I like to start in 1936 for a multiplayer game so that we can custom tailor our economies and forces. But we have trouble agreeing on just what can be changed before the allies or the comintern can DOW the Axis. For instance should Germany be allowed to DOW Hungary and split Czechoslovakia with an already annexed Hungary thereby incorporating all of both countries into Germany. Should Italy be allowed to DOW and annex Yugoslavia?
Of course the Axis players feel this is more than fair since the Allies and Comintern can share/exchange provinces and blueprints from the start of the war.
I know, I know this all sounds like a personal problem so why have I posted it here?
What I am wondering is if game can/should be modified so that rather than play the 1936 campaign (which seems to be abused by many to stockpile, etc...), couldn't a player be allowed the option to start for instance the 1939 campaign, and change out a few things?
For instance, give the player of say Germany the option to pursue submarines/surface/both and have the game adjust how those resources were applied? Or skip Rocket research and apply those resources somewhere else, etc, etc.
I think it would be easier to get people to agree to terms for a multiplayer game if something like this was pursued. It also helps preserve the game balance and limit abuses, while still allowing a player to customize for their particular game style.
Just a thought...
