Optimal screen size for Paradox games?

I have mostly played Paradox games on a 15 inch laptop screen, but I am curious how large of a monitor people have comfortably used to play Paradox games. I am considering getting a 27 or 28 inch 4k monitor and wanted to find out whether that would be too big for GSGs and other Paradox games.

Any thoughts/opinions?

4k is awesome for all PDS games. Resolution is the key thing here, and the size of the screen only matters for your eyesight.

HoI IV, Stellaris and Imperator all look great on my 27 in 4K screen. CKII, I need to use the UI scaling otherwise it's unplayable. EUIV, I think has a UI scaling option buried in settings.txt, but it doesn't work properly last I remember.

I dont play ck2... so I should have mentioned that I had no idea about it...

The newer games would all benefit from as big of a monitor as you can throw at them, but some of the older games may have issues due to scaling of the fonts and menus. I'm using a 27" at home, which runs everything from CK1 to Stellaris with no significant problems, provided that you set the game's resolution to something that works well for that game.

a 65" 1080 is no better than a 27" 1080, other than you can see it from farther away

No, but a 65" display should be substantially crisper and more detailed, IF both the game and monitor support a significantly higher resolution than 1080p (1080i or any other "interlaced" display is to be avoided). CGA at 200 lines resolution is no more readable on a 65" monitor than on a 4" LCD screen either, but we don't use CGA for games anymore. Most monitors and games today can run better than 1080p resolution, but that doesn't matter if the individual pixels are so tiny on that smaller monitor that your eyes can't distinguish them. The monitor needs to be big enough to run the game at a higher resolution and still have the individual features large enough to see or read. Most Paradox games can display at a higher resolution, which will give you a broader area being displayed at any given time, and a potentially lower percentage of the screen tied up by menu bars and other User Interface features.

In other words, a 27" display gives you more than enough area to see everything that needs seeing, but you'll probably struggle with some games by using a 14" laptop display. A 65" monitor is likely to be overkill, but will probably be beneficial to many of the newer games compared to a 27".....although HOW beneficial is debatable and dependent on the game.

I've switched to .75 reader glasses on the 32 because it's 4k

I can say an upgrade I made to a 32 inch 1440p monitor is very good for Paradox games. I use UI scaling for most of them. I could not imagine using 4k without scaling.

The FreeSync helps as well I think as the games spend most of their time in the correct FPS range.

Speaking as someone who's played both CK2 and EU4 on a 800x800 - don't. Whoa that was painful.
