Vanilla:
I usually rely on a 50% INF + 50% ART ratio in most armies, usually supplied by 2xDRA, 2xENG and 2xHUS, with DRA switched out for INF as the game progresses.
My typical mid game divisions consist of 4xINF 4xART 2xENG 2xHUS. This allows for a strong center and flexible flanking, with either ENG taking the front or support HUS from the rear against smaller armies. If bigger armies are needed I'd just add more INF/ART and add enough ENG/HUS to keep recon and siege at 100%.
Offensive armies use guards or tanks instead of INF, fast armies use ENG instead of ART, during the late game HUS will be swapped with planes, ENG with tanks.
PDM:
I use CUR-only during the early game, then switch to the same 4xINF 4xART 2xENG 2xHUS divisions later on.
Mobile divisions receive guard units, later on tanks and planes replace ENG and HUS.
