Since my game does nothing but crash when it try and play, I sent off a letter to HBS to ask for a refund. I got a reply back from their support by Robin. I learned two things from that email.

Evidently HBS is not getting info from the Battletech BUG Forum here. I only say that because Robin asked for totally different info about my problem. Dxdiag text log instead of the 3 crash dump files that the game gives when it crashes. So, I might be mistaken. HBS might be getting info from the BUG Forums, but they are doing it like super secret ninjas.

Also, Robin mentioned:
The team is currently working on an update that we hope will address crashing problems that players are haivng and it will be available as an opt-in beta in the next day or so. Please try the beta when it's available and see if it helps.

So, maybe there is some hope that I will actually get to play the game again. Just passing along information since HBS appears to be in radio silence crisis mode.

Hope your problem will get fixed soon.

I ran into issues as well, and just ran out and bought a new rig.

I have the loading bug where it stops after the unity logo, but here's the really weird part. If I turn my computer on, turn off my discord, turn off my asus OC monitor, and let steam do it's "updates" like normal, I cannot play, it hangs right after the unity logo then crashes to desktop. Now if I immediately restart my pc, go through the same steps, it seems that it always goes past that logo issue, and I can play uninterrupted from there on, UNLESS I exit back to desktop, and try to go back into the game, then it hangs right after the unity logo. If I then restart my PC, no problem.
Now that's a head scratcher if I've ever seen one.

I wouldnt lie to you MunkyII :p Here is a copy of the email I got from HBS Support.

Hi Will,
We are responding to our customer service emails as quickly as we can and are very sorry you're having issues with the game.

Here's a list of things to check on to see if they help fix the issue:

- Make sure your video card drivers are updated

- Check to see if you have more than one monitor plugged in. If so, are you playing on the first or second monitor?

- Is the monitor that you're playing the game on using the video card and not the motherboard graphics?

- Have you played a pre-launch version of BATTLETECH?

- Have you verified the integrity of your files?

The team is currently working on an update that we hope will address crashing problems that players are haivng and it will be available as an opt-in beta in the next day or so. Please try the beta when it's available and see if it helps.

If you are running into the same problems after trying to play with the new update, please send us your dxdiag files along with any crash logs you may get. Below are directions on how to get your dxdiag files so we can take a closer look at what might be happening.

On a Windows system, please collect system info through a DxDiag analysis:
1. On a PC, Start > Run and enter: dxdiag
2. Click "Save All Information"
3. Save DxDiag.txt file and send it.
On a Mac system, please follow the instructions below:
1. Choose the "Apple" menu icon > "About This Mac" to get an overview of your Mac.
2.Click the "System Report" button.
3. Save a copy of your system report by choosing File > Save.
4. A file titled "iMac.spx" will be created in the location you select.

Thank you for your patience. Our team is working as quickly as possible so everyone can play the game.

Best,
Robin

BATTLETECH 1.0.1 Release Notes [BETA]
Thank you for playing BATTLETECH! We appreciate your patience and support as our team works to quickly investigate and address reported issues with the game.Release 1.0.1 is now available on the public_beta branch on Steam and GOG. If you are experiencing any of the issues listed in the Release Notes below, we recommend opting in to the public_beta branch at this time. If you are experiencing any issues running the game that aren't listed below, or if updating to public_beta does not address your issue, please contact Paradox Support here: https://support.paradoxplaza.com

We expect to advance the default BATTLETECH branch to Release 1.0.1 early next week.

Switching to the public_beta branch (Steam):
  1. In the left column games list of your Steam library, right-click BATTLETECH.
  2. Select Properties
  3. Click on the tab labelled BETAS
  4. In the dropdown menu, select public_beta (Note: if you do not see this available, you may need to restart Steam and/or wait a few minutes.)
  5. Click the CLOSE button
  6. BATTLETECH should start updating automatically
  7. When the update has completed, right-click BATTLETECH again, select Properties, and open the LOCAL FILES tab.
  8. Click the VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES button.
  9. When this completes, restart Steam and then launch the game.

If you don't see the "public_beta" branch available, please exit the Steam client and relaunch.

IMPORTANT: If you switch to the public_beta branch, please note that when playing Multiplayer Skirmish, you will only be able to play against other players on the public_beta branch. The Lobby browser does not currently denote which players are on the public_beta branch and which are not (but will in future releases.) If you switch to the public_beta branch and then want to create a multiplayer lobby, please add [BETA] to the front of your Lobby name.

Thank you for the info! I don't see my issue here, but I'm glad other folks are getting help.

EDIT: Wait. Perhaps that video playback issue is it? I am still new at these things. I'll try the patch and hope. =)

Yup, the beta patch didn't seem to do anything different for me at all.
Still the same thing, have to restart the computer, and then have to restart it again if I quit to desktop here.

Well, I finally figured out what was causing me to not be able to load the game without restarting my computer. It was Nahimic2. Sound software, go figure. Disabled that, and I could load it with no problems.
