Has anyone else noticed that OPMs are now fielding tiny armies since Emperor/1.30? Before they used to usually maintain 3k/4k but now I see 1k/2k. It's most noticeable in Ireland and the HRE but can be seen elsewhere as well.

Is this intended behaviour?

No, it was intentional afaik. I guess to reflect the difference between standing armys and mobilised forces.. not sure though if it had a technicle background to speed up calculation. Anyway you can assume that they tested it and had something in mind by doing so..

It's not only for OPM's really. I've seen major nations start massively building armies only the moment they're declared upon. Not sure if I'm a fan of that change, but especially for bigger nations, you usually can't cripple them before they've built their armies, unless you've already won the war before it started.

OPM Genf was just released in my game. They start with 1 regiment, force limit of 7, -99 prestige and some 53 ducats in the treasury. First thing they do is disband their 1 regiment. :p

What's MainMerc?

Not enterily sure but seems to be the first merc army that shows up to hire, augmented/reduced by a very strange formula.
Its intent seems to be to not make the standing army 0 if the forcelimit is too low.

The army will get bigger than the force limit by hiring mercs.
Also, by some math witchcraft it will not go up to forcelimit even hiring mercs if the forcelimit is too high.
