I dont know why its like this but CK seems a step back from EU2, and i really tought it would have atleast the same complexcity, but its not sadly and even the graphics seem outdated and older then Victoria, why Paradox WHY???

I don't agree about the graphics (though the map just tend to be a bit more ugly, but its certainly isn't more old). Also, I believe it is as complex as EU2, but some areas are a bit oversimplified and detract possible strategies from the game (diplomacy and combat for example). Furthermore there are a lot of "unsuccessful" concepts that need to be fixed before this game becomes great (AI, marriages, crusades, user interface, etc.).

The whole game seems pretty oversimplified, imho. I tried really hard to like this game (played Vic, EU2, HoI and liked them very much) but there are simply to many things missing. Combat is too simple, the whole marriagethingy is far to boring and simplified, research is absolutely random, crusades (or the big crusade) aren't very realistic and the AI is simply put stupid and only dangerous when a whole lot stronger in Numbers. I think Paradox did put far to much weight on the eventsystem. Now don't get me wrong, the eventsystem is the very heart of all EU-Engine based tiles, It gives them a very high replay value and the whole Idea is quite revolutionary but I think more good old fashioned number-crunching with at least somewhat exceptable results (like in Vic) would make the game far better. The somewhat numerous Bugs don't help either.

P.S.: sorry, but english isn't my native language. Mein Deutsch ist weitaus besser. Ach ja... die deutsche Übersetzung ist auch nicht super gelungen :D

me stupid. me likes CK. Ck good ! :D

The other day i converted a savegame to Eu2, and when i started the game, i was shocked of the ugliness of the map :) it was sooo much more - kiddy, like a puzzle or something.. CK map is looking good! as for combat thing- combat is simple? like eu2's combat isnt ;)

the game is great, just needs a little more tweaking here and there :D which will surely come soon

yea thats what I feel too - only played it a couple of times and am not mad that I spent money on it (or even VIC) as at least paradox gets the cash to churn out HOI2...... hope they dont boggle it up. :(

- CK is lower in complexity compared to EU2 - give me a break! It's not because the AI isn't there yet - we should exagerate,
- it seems the graphics are just right because the game is in the middle ages, so older then Victoria,

I dont blame people for having this attitude. The thing is i love the concept so much that i will not give up on it. Patches are comming thick and fast with dramatic improvements. Just look at how v1 was. As other have said before there is a great game in here trying to get out. It is a little too simple but vick is too complicated :p They just have to get the balance right like they did with EU, and so i hear, HOI.

That's what I like of Victoria (my favorite): one never stops doing things.

In CK, much time is spent waiting for an event to occur to spice up the game :D

I'm fairly new to CK myself, and although I agree with those that say there are quite a few things in it that need sorting out ( a better interface for navigating through relevant info would be a start, having to hunt the map for a particular province is a bit of a pain for example) - I think the basic concept is a great idea, and the core of its implementation is there.

I just hope Paradox continue to improve it until it becomes the game it could be.

For some of us who waited for years for CK its been a bitter dissapointment. The complexity and graphics are really secondary to me to the redundant AI, and game balance issues.

Those are whats outdated ForVictory, the same dam problems game after game.

EU2 is a great game, HOI at 1.06 with CORE mod is a great game, both are still on my hard drive and have been played more then almost any other game I have (with the exception of RTKIII, thats SuperNES).

They didnt become great until a long time after release, I dont know about VIC I dont own it and never will, but hang in thier Im sure in a year or so, once more people buy it and test it, CK will be an awesome game.

Until then, it stays in my CD rack.

I think it's fun, if not very complex. Right now I'm playing an awesome GC as the Vermandois Family and have nearly half of France and all of Spain under my control. There are many annoyances with all Paradox games, and CK is no differenct but at least CK is somewhat fun in the same vein as EU2.

I would say CK would be much better in MP. That way you don't have to worry so much about AI that doesn't know what it's doing, and you're not likely to have massive empires and even if the mongols come you're probably going to at lest have some intelligent allies.

It's too bad that the marriage concept is lacking, and overall I like more complex games. But it's still nice to play occasionly, like Vicky.

I agree, I just got and I've been waiting a long time for the game. I think it's really fun. It doesn't seem like work (like Vic IMO). I think it will only improve as time goes on (like all Paradox games).

its not about it being VIC or HOI - its about it being an empire building/management game which it isnt - rather a marriage manager :(....
