German sources are considerably more accurate then Russian ones
Oh really? Could you explain, how Germans suffered 20 million sick (to the point of hospitalization) and only 9 million wounded? Not like they were fighting in the jungles, being gassed or whatnot.
Could you explain, how Germany was running out of trained soldiers by winter 1941 (severely under strength units), if they had 1 million men in reserve army (to replace losses) at Barbarossa's start, and supposedly suffered less casualties then that, during that time?

Captured is one thing, missing is another.
The list goes: "Killed, Died of Wounds, Wounded, Missing". If a soldier is captured, he is obviously missing. If he is killed, and no one can report him dead - he is also missing. Thus, number of POWs should be smaller, than numbers reported as missing. Yet, its the other way around. A+B=C, where A is captured, B is dead with no witnesses, C is missing. Germany was reporting C as being smaller than A. Only way it works mathematically, is if B is a negative number - which does not work in real life. Or are you going to argue for Nazi zombies?

Politically, Operation Unthinkable was unthinkable. Japan, China, India, and Germany would have needed to be on board just to establish workable areas of operation. What would be the popular reaction in Germany and Japan if in one breath the Allies demanded total disarmament and in the next demanded indefinite occupation while they invaded the USSR? The establishment of the First World alliances would have also been seriously hindered if the US hadn't bought goodwill through the Marshall Plan and other reconstruction efforts.

Mao certainly wasn't ready to cut ties with Stalin, so a Soviet Far East invasion would require an Allied intervention in the Chinese Civil War or a slow slog down the Trans-Siberian Railway with the risk that Mao might join the war and attack Vladivostok at any time.

Otherwise, I generally agree with the posts on page one. Long term, the Soviets would lose a total war. Too many fronts to defend from too many soldiers and bombers. I'm curious how well the Stalin regime could be propped up if the Allies successfully convinced Russians that Stalin was aggressor and the war was simply to liberate the future Warsaw Pact puppets.

None of these should be being discussed on this forum, now should they?

If you think they should I'd suggest you review the hoi4 forum rules again.

just erased 4 posts discussing casualty statistics that I had previously pointed out were against forum rules. Thread closed
