I learned a lot from this play through, will probably end the game due to my peace conference blunder though.
I still don't have a grasp on manpower. There were a couple moments of near panic, mainly addressed by changing manpower laws, which then results in an exponential increase in manpower.
Logistics and attrition ended up being more of an issue then the AI Red Army, although in terms of casualties, the AI Red Army inflicted the most on the Wehrmacht in this recent play through. I didn't invade Denmark or Norway, this was probably a mistake, since Denmark went Allies and I had an invasion of US and Danish troops into Germany. Ended up pocketing all the troops and capitulating Denmark. But there was a moment of concern since I was so focused on the Eastern Front.
It has become apparent, that at least within a single player context the Integrated Economies focus on the National Focus tree is too good to pass up on. Getting the bonus and having control over Romanian oil was critical. Even so there were times when I had to ground my airforce to preserve fuel. I enjoy the game greatly but the more you become familiar with the rules and the engine it is evident that some national focuses and technologies have little to no value, whereas others are so superior it becomes a default choice.
Prime example in the German focus tree Herman Goering Werke and KDF Wagen are automatic choices. In contrast the air focus and the anti-Comintern are of little value, and the later only if trying to get a casus belli against the USSR. Similarly I have not seen a reason to ever choose the focuses related to China or Japan, and haven't read anything on this forum of why that would be a good choice.
