All,

In honor of the hard work we’ve all put in over our time here, I thought we should close up Eutopia 2 with a round of awards for the players.

Most Political Influence (Right)

Which right-wing player has had the most influence in politics on the grand scale of things? (Meaning over the course of all seven terms, and the compilation of all the player’s characters, if they had more than one.)

Most Political Influence (Centrist)

Which centrist player has had the most influence in politics on the grand scale of things? (Meaning over the course of all seven terms, and the compilation of all the player’s characters, if they had more than one.)

Most Political Influence (Left)

Which left-wing player has had the most influence in politics on the grand scale of things? (Meaning over the course of all seven terms, and the compilation of all the player’s characters, if they had more than one.)

Best Comedic Performance

Which player has most consistently brought us great comedic performances throughout our time in Eutopia 2?

The Journalism Award

Which player has most consistently and accurately reported the news here in Eutopia?

Best Rebel

Which player has stirred up the most conflict and dissent within our beloved nation?

Fastest Rise to Power

Which player seemed to make his second post from a position of power?

Most Decisive

Which player always seems ready to take immediate action when large events take place?

Most Eloquent

Which player always has the right words?

Best Bar/Recreational Facility

Which recreational facility have you most enjoyed spending your time in?

Most Interesting Background

Which player has produced the most interesting background for his character(s)

I can’t really think of anything else right now, so feel free to add your own categories.

Just to confirm, this goes all the way back to Term One, right? The Lundgren/Murmurandus presidency? (Is that right?)

Wanted to make sure - we've had a lot of turn over and there were an awful lot of contributions made by people who are no longer here (ShawnG, Craig Ashley, Murmurandus, Dan Hartwell (suffering early memory loss today, was that Dan's User name?) Baner, etc.

Don't forget those who came before you! :)

I reserve the right to change this as other people give me ideas of people I hadn't thought about before, but here are my first thoughts:
Most Political Influence (Right)
Jake Langley (Craig Ashley) was a mover and a shaker, particularly among the Right. As the driving force behind the creation of the CC he deserves a lot of credit. He also knew how to play politics wells.

Most Political Influence (Centrist)
Jack Teano (heagarty). The center never really recovered from heag's becoming GM. This was a man who was everywhere as MP Chair and Deputy MILE. Having had to do some reading of older stuff lately just how good important he was came shining through again.

Most Political Influence (Left)
Josephus. The undisputed leader of the Socialists from the very start. His consistant continued leadership has made them the most persistant force in Eutopian politics. He has the ability to set the political agenda.

Best Comedic Performance

A lot of people have made me laugh. Blade! & Josephus spring to mind here but I am interested in hearing what others think before casting my final "vote".

The Journalism Award
Charles Morgan (Hajji_Gray). He set the standard for impartial reporting that added real depth to stories that were reported.

Best Rebel

Again a few candidates spring to mind including Jake Langley, IKK, and of course The_Rebel. My votes still up in the air here too.

And the rest will have to wait as I have to run to a work now. Can't wait to see what others post.

I'm a little surprised that no one else has posted their two cents here all day.

Fastest Rise to Power

This is a toughie and one where no one really stands out.

Most Decisive

I think Craig Ashely was pretty decisive. I think Baner back in the day was good here. Jacob Lungren was rather decisive. But since I must act decisively here I will say that Jack Teano deserves the award here. The man was practically an events solving machine before they went and made him the events maker.

Most Eloquent

PNH Schwarzard (Mel) can cut through someone better than just about anyone I know. Amric deserves an honorable mention for his wonderful wonderful rhetoric about first the envoirnment and then during the campaign.

Best Bar/Recreational Facility

Brewtopia. The original. The best.

Most Interesting Background

I like both the original Tulp as well as Talbott's background.

Most Political Influence<right>
I have a hard time choosing between Craig Ashley and Erc, both of whom were excellent purveyors of the right. I can’t really make a clear cut decision here. Although Craig did quite a bit, so did Erc. Can’t make a clear decision on this one.

Most Political Influence<centrist>
Teano was huge, no doubt about it, but I think I am putting this one to Phalanx. Phalanx rose quickly to power as John O’Floinn, and still had massive influence after his presidency, even though he chose to step back somewhat. His appointment as Attorney General proved that his influence was and is very lasting.

Most Political Influence<leftist>
Josephus I and PNH Schwarzard<Mel>. Mel did a fantastic job with his character, but in the end, I have to give the nod to Josephus, as he never wavered in his commitment. Not that Mel did either, but since Mel is a GM, I give it to Josephus.

Best Comedic Performance
Blade! made me laugh more than once. But then so did so many others. I just really can’t make a final choice on this one either.

The Journalism Award
I gotta go with Hajji’s Charles Morgan. His newspaper was very good. In fact once he ‘retired’ and gave it up, I finally started my own, in somewhat the same style as his own.

Best Rebel

The Rebel’s Roger Smith.

Fastest Rise to Power
Phalanx. John O’Floinn becoming president happened pretty quickly. Unless you want to count IKK or Glasser as temp presidents when Craig disappeared after becoming president.

Most Decisive
Josephus. Right or wrong, he had an opinion and action ready for any eventuality.

Most Eloquent
Mel’s Schwarzard is it. Hands down. I appreciate Barkeep’s vote of confidence as honorable mention, but Mel was it. Perhaps Hajji might be a better choice of honorable mention. His editorials, in his own paper, as well as my own were stellar works of art.

Best Bar/Recreational Facility
Brewtopia. I give honorable mention to O’Floinn’s Post Card Stand as well.

Most Interesting Background
Really can’t say.

Most Political Influence (Right)

Well he wasn't around for all seven terms but when he was here, Jake Langley was hot. By far, incidently, my favourite player and the one character I miss the most. Josephus was always at his best when Langley was his foil.

A runner up would be the original Lundgren...more moderate than Langley but wielded a lot of political influence.

Most Political Influence (Centrist)

Well, I hate to sound like a broken record but like with Langley, the game missed Teano. Heagarty, of course, was very useful in his mod role, but Teano was a hard worker.
A runner up would be Von Streusser--did lots for a long time. Another character I was saddened to see leave.

Sad that all four characters mentioned above have left the game in some form or another.

Most Political Influence (Left)

Hmmmmmmm.

PNH was left of centre and, although he never had political power, was respected by the centrists and the rightists.

A second would go to another former player, Josephus' right-hand, er left-hand man who did all his dirty work...dr. de Vlaminck.

Best Comedic Performance

I'd have to go through all these posts, and don't want to. So I can't really comment. There have been some cool one-liners from many people.

Conceptually, the funniest bit, IMO, was our president opening up a postcard stand.

The Journalism Award

Amric's paper was pretty good and sound journalistically when Hajji wasn't writing for it :)

Best Rebel

I'd have to go with my old friend Vlaminck. He took on the USA and...well, he lost. But still. I loved Vlaminck...a terrorist and lover of archeology.

Fastest Rise to Power

Jake Langley played politics very well. Started off as a fringe Nazi and became president.

Most Decisive

A few here. Teano never sat out. Hajji 's Morgan liked to get involved, especially behind the scenes, as did Jacob Lundgren.

Most Eloquent

Josephus!!!! No, he'll never go down in Eutopian history as the most eloquent will he?
I'll go for Blade!'s character, the guy who married Maria.
I'll give Tilly a nod of the hat too, for his well-worded legal documents.

Best Bar/Recreational Facility

Yeah, the old Brewtopia ruled. The only place were prominent politicians of all stripes gather together and get sloshed.

Most Interesting Background

Alas, I've read very little of those, I admit. I think Voshkod had quite an indepth character.

Actually, once we're at it I'll toss my hat to Voshkod as probably the best non-political RPG player. He came to us late, and created some intersting role-playing moments. I'll admit to losing track as to what's happening outside that damned warehouse--and what that chase was all about...but he brought some action into the game.

And we had one cool fight together.

DISCLAIMER: The following observations are those of Josephus Locke Sergei, the in-game character I created

Josephus' personal favourite characters: (in game)

Dr. De Vlaminck. Josephus was saddened to see him turned over to the US after he, Josephus, lost so much credibility paying ransom to terrorists.

Jake Langley. Josephus' mortal enemy. He envied Langley's rise to prominence and his unseeming way of getting what he wanted. In the Langley vs. Josephus war, Langley had the upper hand.

Jacob Lundgren. Josephus missed Lundgren a lot. Although a Langleyite, Lundgren at times would support Josephus publicly and on occasion even in the Assembly. A right wing pragmatist with a soft heart for the Left.

My answers to this aren't too helpful, since I can in so late, but what the hell:

Most Political Influence (Right)

Most Political Influence (Centrist)

I haven't noticed any influential politicians in the center or right.

Most Political Influence (Left)

Comrade Sergei

Best Comedic Performance

Phalanx, via Eutopia Tonight

The Journalism Award

Heagarty

Best Rebel

No real rebels since I've been here

Fastest Rise to Power

Estava's Chamberlian-Beleau (spelling's wrong, I know). He was MHES in about two seconds. And he was MHES for about two seconds.

Most Decisive

Decisiveness seems to be lacking in most Eutopian leaders....

Most Eloquent

Hajji Giray's Morgan, for the brief time I saw him.

Best Bar/Recreational Facility

The sports bar; best fight I've had.

Most Interesting Background

Dunno.

Note that these awards are most likely going to be very Term 5 and onwards-biased, mainly because I really didn't start paying attention until last August.

Most Political Influence (Right)

Jake Langley. If he hadn't kept disappearing, he'd be King about now (although I don't know how he could have possibly won the Term 6 election, he was making quite a comeback as MTEF in my administration)

Most Political Influence (Centrist)

Charles S. Morgan here, for his constant in-the-wings presence in Eutopia which I've always had to deal with.

Honorable mentions also to Jack Teano, who I only just barely remember as a character (he ceased being active when I entered politics in full force--and thus I can't give him my full nod), but I remember being a great character, and also to Lundgren & Son, who don't get a nod here only because they've flip-flopped between Center and Right so much. :D

Most Political Influence (Left)

Uncle Joe. Not much more I can say here.

Best Comedic Performance

His High Hoboness, Mr. Charles S. Morgan

The Journalism Award

I'm afraid that the best of Eutopian Journalism was behind us when I came into the game, so I'm going to have to give the nod to Amric for keeping the flame alive with the Eutopian Today, with honorable mentions to Morgan for the Gazette (until he gave it up to Blade!), and Uncle Joe for best purely political paper.

Best Rebel

Uncle Joe, although he may not be considered enough of a "rebel" to qualify, so honorable mention to Dan Hartwell for his bit of treachery at the end...

Fastest Rise to Power

Although I daresay that my own rise was a bit meteoric (random poster to nominee for the CC-CRE coalition in a matter of two weeks, then onto the the Presidency essentially straight from the NA one term later), I'm not going to pick myself, so...I'll just go along with the rest and pick O'Floinn

Most Decisive

Definitely not myself here. I may have attacked the culture of commissions, but Talbott's decisiveness does not really seem to extend beyond his speeches.
I think the nod here has to go to Jake Langley...decisions may not have been popular at times, but he picked a course and stuck with it.

Most Eloquent

I second the other nods in Mel's direction here...if not eloquent, then at least a very harsh debater. Sort of like Lenin.

Best Bar/Recreational Facility

Prof. Talbott is a lonely man who enjoys the comfort of his easy chair. Although he has been known to frequent the Buen Puerto Sports Bar on rare occassions.
OH! Nearly forgot! The obvious answer here is, of course, Prof. Talbott's favorite Underground Washington Club!

Most Interesting Background

To be honest, I haven't read many of them, so this'll go to Martinez because his actually comes back to haunt him from time to time.
Honorable mention to Zuckergussgeback for his tome of History of the von Maazarins.

I'm going to have to choose Jake Langley here...though Lundgren was a very close second as Speaker-for-Life :)
Most Political Influence (Centrist)
Most people like Jack Teano here, and some are choosing John O'Floinn and Michael von Streusser.

But who INVENTED the center in EUtopian politics?

After all, the founder of the Moderate Party is the man who brought Teano, O'Floinn, and von Streusser together, and the foundation of the Moderate Party forever changed EUtopia.

The winner here has to be the oft-overlooked and all-too-forgotten Judas Maccabeus
Most Political Influence (Left)
Not Josephus: he was around the whole time but the ESRP only had a lot of influence occasionally...though Glasser and IKK are good candidates, the winner might just be Sebastian Fitzpatrick
Best Comedic Performance
John O'Floinn's EUtopia Tonight! But with Honorable Mentions for heagarty's "Locusts Invade Skyscraper", Melanchthon's "Peter MacKay and Stephen Harper Worry About Job Security", the whole "hobo" events arc and "Hajjite" cult, and (last but not least) Michael von Streusser and IKK's "Test Driving a Gorgon Tank".
The Journalism Award
Well, the best journalist was, um, well....me. I don't think I can nominate myself, though....but I will anyway.
Best Rebel
NOT Roger Smith. Roger Smith was a very incompetent rebel. You know how I caught him? We found evidence (it was given to us by one of his cronies) and it was covered in his fingerprints!

I think Dan Hartwell was a smarter, better rebel.
Fastest Rise to Power
John O'Floinn, of course!
Most Decisive
Morgan wins huge points for quick acting in foiling the Hartwell Coup, but if you want most decisive views in general, it would have to be Langley and Josephus.
Most Eloquent
Toughie...I always thought Teano had a certain elegance and rational persuasiveness.

This one's difficult, only because I consider very few of the above people "rightwing". I dont really consider Langley a rightwinger, so I am going with Erc. This is because he succesfully did the most conservative thing in the game, IE: Privatize Marticon.

Most Political Influence (Centrist)
I was able to argue him to death, this one goes to Morgan.

Most Political Influence (Left)
Josephus, consitent and active, both out in the open and behind the scenes. I remember bashing him quite a bit in my early months in the CRE.

The Journalism Award
Amric for the Eutopia Today

Best Rebel

Ill go with Hartwell as well.

Fastest Rise to Power
Erc, I still don't know where you came from. Out of nowhere.

Most Decisive

Im going with Tulp (elder) with this one. He was consistently pro-military, and went so far as to capture the President to avoid doing what he felt was wrong for Eutopia.

And now, since you invited us to add some, I will add one.

Most Scandalous Character

Jools. He goes crazy as MDIA, gets arrested by the President for speaking out against his party, then dies in a wild orgy. You don't get much wilder than that.
