As you may have noticed, the ELS is still alive. :) Unfortunately, there has been very little public feedback throughout Season 1, so heagarty and myself are trying to gauge how much interest there actually is in the ELS. So, any and all comments, feedback, criticisms, wishes, peeves and suggestions would be more than welcome. :)

I know that it may be a bit difficult to develop enthusiasm for the ELS at the moment, given that, for the most part, the only available information are team names and game results (apart from heagarty's always excellent coverage of the Monarchs, of course! :)). Unfortunately, my time and knowledge are too limited to come up with background stories on a consistent basis, so I'd like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to participate in the ELS.

How can I participate, you ask? :D Well, for starters, there are currently ten teams. The Monarchs have been "adopted" by heagarty, but if anyone wants to "take care" of one of the remaining teams (as team owner, game reporter or in any other capacity), please just post here - and I'll be happy to get you a season pass and access to the ELS-VIP lounge. :)

Also, if anybody is aware of a Lacrosse league sim game, please let me know (I don't think there is one, but it can't hurt to ask :)).

So far very little has been established about the teams, other than the Monarchs, and a small bit about the Titans, Crows, and Cascade.

But here's the best news: It's a brand new season, so if you want to take on a team, and Mel's amenable to it, go ahead and make roster changes, bring in free agents, hire a new coach, get new uniforms, whatever your want.

I can, borrowing generously from some American Lacrosse Leagues, create some generic starting rosters, w/names, positions, etc., so if you don't want to start from scratch, PM me and I'll send you some pre-fabricated backgrounds.

Hey Commish, maybe we need some colorful personalities to do color commentary instead of my "home-town" Monarchs reports? :D

Also, if there is a good OOC or in-game reason, you can suggest to change the team or arena name - or even to move the franchise. :)

Just add a couple swearwords to your reports, and we should be fine. :D ;)

By the way, I've taken the liberty to name you President of the Monarchs; let me know if that's okay (and if you like the team colors - first color is shirt color, second color is shorts and helmet color). :)

I'm really hoping someone joins us, so this doesn't just turn into a dialogue. :D

By the way, good job with the new team names!

I'll post some team info for the Monarchs, and try to get a bit more league coverage out there.

Looks like ETN ran the bit about some shady business with the Capistrano Crows :D (Of course it could all just be rumor and innuendo....) Hopefully that can add a bit of spice, and maybe even make them a little more attractive for ownership by some of our island's <ahem> "legitimate businessmen".

To be honest, I don't know anything about Lacrosse. But I do think that it's nice to read a paper with Lacrosse outcomes in it. SO keep up the good work!:)

Just a note, in case anyone else has been a bit reluctant to participate because they are not that familiar with lacrosse.

I do not know how many lacrosse experts there are out there, but I imagine there are very few. I saw the creation of the ELS as an attempt to give Eutopia its own unique sport and sports culture.

Personally I am MUCH more familiar with American football, basketball and hockey than Lacrosse, or the other sports we have in Eutopia, but after a little research on the web and reading up on some college and professional lacrosse teams, it's pretty simple to create a team and some game updates.

I think it's okay borrow heavily from some RL leagues, because if it's new to everyone here, then it adds something.

It's more about the story than about accuracy at this point, I think. If there ARE any die-hard lacrosse fans or players, I'm sure they can set us all straight if we've strayed. :D

Besides, we can do some fun things centered around sports (Fan riots, regional rivalries, events around sports celebrities, etc.).

Of course, if no one really gets anything out of these, no need to keep manufacturing scores, updates, etc. and maybe we can rally behind a new sport.

Anyhow, just my two cents...

ELS PLAYERS

Just for Reference, here are some of the players already created for ELS (found in various news reports in the ELS thread and the media threads)

I am happy to create more players for
teams, like I did for the Monarchs, but don't want to limit anyone's ability to shape their own teams.

Feel free to use these names when writing stories, game updates, etc, about your team playing other teams. If a team is owned by another Eutopian citizen, you might not want to do anything too dramatic to their players, but everyone else, I suppose is fair game.

Same here. As I've said previously, I actually know absolutely zip about Lacrosse. Which is why I'm the Commissioner (obviously). :D
