All,

I thought it might be helpful and perhaps fun to compile a little dictionary of Eutopian terms, Eutopia-specific usage of terms, and Eutopian acronyms. Also, I'm procrastinating. :D ;)

Think of it as our own version of the Short Oxford English Dictionary - only, err, shorter and, umm, with lots of abbreviations. In other words, The Abbreviated Eutopian Dictionary (TAED). :D

I'm going to start us off with some entries; feel free to add others. And no, it's not meant to be serious. :)

TAED

Anxiety, n.: (emotional state) what party leaders feel when facing an imminent deadline to register their party with the >> CRO and half of their party members are >> MIA.

AWOL, adj.: (physical state) elected officials about half-way through the term. Also see >> MIA.

Confusion, n.: (mental state) state of mind typically experienced by new citizens upon their arrival in Eutopia; syn.: anguish (mental), disorientation.

CRO, n.: (office) = Chief Registration Officer; responsible for overseeing party registration; syn.: party pooper.

ELS, n.: (organization) = Eutopian Lacrosse Series; professional organization representing Eutopia's "favourite sport" (or so its Commissioner keeps saying).

GM, n.; (office) = Gamemaster(s); individuals responsible for ensuring that game and gameplay run smoothly; their number (3) mirrors that of the Moirae (the Fates) or, depending on mood and occasion, that of the Furies (vengeance demons); also respond to "Your Lordship(s)," "Your Grace(s)" or "Your Excellency(/ies)." :D

MDIA, n.: (office) = Minister of Defense and International Affairs; pen and sword combined; the guy with the big guns (provided Parliament didn't cut military funds again this afternoon); not to be confused with >> MIA.

METI, n.: (office) = Minister of Economy, Trade and Infrastructure; occasionally builds a road or two.

MHA, n.: (office) = Minister of Home Affairs; responsible for law enforcement, justice, immigration, citizenship etc.; the guy with the little guns (<> MDIA).

MHSA, n.: (office) = Minister of Home and Social Affairs; health, labour, science, education; your tax dollars at work.

MIA, adj.: (physical state) common fate among party leaders and members; phenomenon unexplained by science - recent theories speculate that quantum mechanics, black holes or distortions in the space-time continuum are to blame; suggestions that the individuals in question may be preoccupied in >> RL are mere superstition; sometimes used as syn. for >> AWOL; not to be confused with >> MDIA.

MP, n.: (office) = Member of Parliament; member of Eutopia's legislature; sometimes found in the Parliament Building, more often in popular pubs in the vicinity of Parliament.

RL, n.: (mythology) = real life; legendary realm said to exist outside of Eutopia; superstition debunked by modern science.

UD, n.: (proper name) = Uglyduck; reigning deity in the Eutopian pantheon. ;)

VP, n.: (office) = Vice-President; sometimes inaccurately (and perhaps ironically) rendered as "victory points."

IC, adj.: (mental state) = in character; ironically, many IC comments are actually quite out of character (>> OOC) or "atypical"; conversely, comments made OOC are usually in character; this often leades to >> confusion, and some scientists argue that it may be a cause of several ill-understood physical phenomena (>> AWOL, MIA).
