OOC: Discussion of the Museum of Western Eutopian History and Art (CMWEHA)

OOC: I suppose it would be up to the mods to come up with a cost estimate and a few design concepts to be chosen from, but I don't know.

OOC: Or, since none of the mods are architects with specialized training in museum design, perhaps you or another player could research the cost of a similiar facility and submit it to us for approval.

We can approve or disapprove this sort of thing, but, rumors to the contrary, we are not experts on everything and just don't have enough time, with everything else, to do this kind of research for you.

We may be able to scare up some images of some exhibits, however.

OOC:The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland cost 84 million USD that design would be a bit much for a smallish town like Farpoint though. And that includes the services of I.M. Pei

On the other hand it is a unique museum and a concert space which is similiar to the proposal for the MWEHA.

Does anyone know of a more modest museum that we could use as a template somewhere in the country?

OOC: Found one

The proposed new Salvador Dali Museum in St Petersburg, FL (which will replace a very modest existing museum that I've been to with a large selection of Dali's work) will cost $6 million USD in public funds. I think a fair estimate for the building I'm talking about would be for a public investment of the same size with matching private funds (i.e around $12 million), still quite a bit but small enough to be a only moderately risky investment for a modest sized town.

Other reasons the Dali museum is a good template:
-No famous architect (unlike Rock & Roll hall of fame or Experience Music Project)
-big, but not epic
