i usually play as a collectivist empire who see slavery as "giving a job" and can accept almost anyone...as long as you're happy (slavery - on every mineral\food, migration - off (ypu can't weaken empire by leaving the power plant i've assigned to you), happines <50 - purge)

unfortunately you can force people to abandoned planet(and call it New Siberia) ... you just will not have enough influence to do it. so Purge is the only option.

ps: diplomacy is almost non existent anyway in stellaris. so why should you care about it as a xenophobe? you will not loose much(and in fact you'll can a whooping 30% boost in "prove your point" argument)

Huh, not sure I'm in favor of the change to Authoritarian purging.

I, of course, am always in favor of non-Authoritarian and non-Xenophobes being unable to purge.
Authoritarian purging made sense when you could specifically purge dissident POPs. Purging being on a per-species basis so as to strengthen the Factions overhaul makes it far less useful to Authoritarian empires.

Less useful, perhaps. But Authoritarian isn't just about the iron first of oppression. It's about the government having enough control over the people to be able to mold them. I think Authoritarian's should be able to purge xenos still.

Obviously the new purge system, and the new government factions system, makes being able to purge individually a nonstarter and purging your own race is clearly out.

Keep in mind this is just most recent info, and all is subject to change, but:
Xenophobes can purge by any means they want, including eating and displacing.
Non-xenophobic Authoritarians can only displace.


I dont recall hearing that purging was xenophobe only now. Where did you hear this/see this?

Also, recall that hiveminds also purge now.

in the stream all he said was that in order to eat you have to be xenophobe. i am looking through it right now and, dont see a mention.
Maybe I am wrong here but wasent the stream about specificaly being xenophobe to "eat" xenos?

Though I do not remember every stream 100% and there xould be another stream I didnt saw,
also in the stream he didnt talk about what fanatic authoritarians can do.

Right at the 16 minute mark, they're showing off Ethos. When they mouse over Authoritarian, tooltip says "Can Displace aliens" When they mouse over xenophobe, it says "Can Purge and Displace aliens."

None of the other ethos that they have shown (which is all of them as of the latest two) have either of those bonuses.

Hiveminds auto-purge non-Hivemind POPs they come under control of through the "Processing" purge-type.

Fanatic Authoritarian having access to purging when normal Authoritarian doesn't wouldn't match the baseline/fanatic pattern established so far.

Also, Hive Minds can absorb Hivemind POPs just fine. This was already confirmed in the Dev Diary about Hive Minds.

I would like to play an authoritarian who is able to enslave not only using the caste system (which is in a 0% happiness empire(yes thats a thing) not much of use)

Do keep in mind authoritarians can kick out aliens living in their empire now. They just can't kill them.

No, see, the whole reason you can't Purge individual POPs anymore is because that'd break the new Faction mechanic overhaul. You can suppress Factions, but you can't just kill billions of your own citizens because some of them disagree with your government.

POP ethos isn't something you can "fix" by killing them anymore- because it's based around a certain percentage of your population gravitating towards that ethos. If you purged those POPs, new ones would convert.

Right at the 16 minute mark, they're showing off Ethos. When they mouse over Authoritarian, tooltip says "Can Displace aliens" When they mouse over xenophobe, it says "Can Purge and Displace aliens."

None of the other ethos that they have shown (which is all of them as of the latest two) have either of those bonuses.
That is wierd, to say the least.
The Undesireable Setting of "Displace" should only be availible with the DLC. So Authoritarians would have no Undesireable setting if they got no DLC?

I am not sure the final word has been spoken there.
