can only go based on reviews. I'm not willing to spend $20 (yet alone $50ish) on a 20 hour title in 2016.
This is so typical. "I didn't play the game and base my opinion solely on reviews, but I hate it!".
While I do get your point about longevity of a game, Tyranny has high replay value, with the ability to choose major details of Kyros' campaign that affect the world you're thrown into in a big way, and the devs stressed this a lot. And yes, as other people mentioned in this thread, you can run through any game without completing any of the side-stories and rush to the end in the blink of an eye, but that's not what gaming is about now, is it?
Here's a video of a Baldur's Gate II 23 minutes speed run, and this isn't even the fastest one. I guess you get my point.
