...what exactly did you think funds the CK2 continued patching?

How did the companies did this in the past? From love and air? How do you think computer games support ever existed without DLC's?

Edit:

Content filled patches, yes. Were it not for SoI the patch would be bugfixes and nothing more.

Then Paradox wouldn't have the fanbase they now have, if they did this in the past.

So now is the time where free content patches are the past. I miss you already.

Spare me your arrogance.

I'am a customer as you are, if they don't listen to us they go bankrupt.

You are A customer. If they dont listen to you they probably wont go bankcrupt. Why? because you will by it when they have a sale later on

How did the companies did this in the past? From love and air? How do you think computer games support ever existed without DLC's?

Bug fixes followed by long and slow beta patch session spanning in the months between 'official' release. And support for the newset expansion only ie semper fi, Divine wind

Yeah. They would, because that is how it has always worked. Buy expansion or do not get any features or future support -> Bugfixes through patches if you bought the expansion. Only here it: Content filled patches for free -> Some cheap DLC to enable some of the features if you want. Which one is the better model for the customer? Yeah, it is the last, and that is what we have now.

I hope that you just act that "special". Sure I'am just ONE customer. But if in the forums 10% (pulled that out of my ass, its just for an example) complain about the pricing policy it is something different. Everyone is just ONE. So are you. Sure the 10% get bashed from the 90% fanboys. But still its 10% of the forum. I'am out after that post. It's too exhausting to explain such trivial thrings.

And for your second part: I don't talk for Paradox alone but other companies too. New maps, game modes, units or whatever were released on a regular base for free. But also paradox did include content in patches for free in the past. Maybe now they can do it even more, but again we are leaving the point of discussion.

Edit:
Then please explain why it would be good for Pdox to listen to advice that doesnt care about them making profit.

Btw, I bought the expansion so i think i am actually more of a customer than you are :p.

1) Because they want to make profit and I'am honest in what I think what is fair and what not.
2) Great, you are now a better being. Oh wait, guess what? I bought it aswell. But do I think it was fair priced? No. Why did I bought it then? Because I've the friggin money. But the one thing doesn't belong to the other.

Edit 3: As I said, Iam out now and I leave with a qoute:

"We can't stop here. This is fanboy country. "

I don't have a problem with Paradox charging for optional gameplay and cosmetic DLC, and I buy it because I enjoy Paradox's games, but to be honest the mechanics for playing as all of the characters in the game seems like something that should have been included from the start. If they can sell the sort of DLC and get away with it without turning off their fanbase too much good for them, but I wish they would stick to selling DLC that doesn't feel like it should have been included in the base game anyways.

It sounds like a good argument until you realize that it actually didnt exist to that extent.

Even the early paradox games never saw the kind of expansion of gameplay that the new ones get (supported by DLC/Expansion). Much less other companies´ games.

If there was patching then it was financed by the game sales or maybe profit from the next project. But it just stopped way more early than Paradox patching does now, usually after the most glaring bugs were found. Exactly because its not possible to finance it with love and air.

What kind of free expanded gameplay did Master of Magic get? Jagged Alliance1 1/2 ? Wizardry 8? MoO2? Panzer General 2?

Really I´d like to hear some examples supporting your case.

People are complaining about the price for a DLC, that opens up one fourth (more?) of the map as playable and adds new interesting features and gamestyles, being too high? Not to mention that there you can play multiplayer, as a muslim, with someone who does not have the DLC.

It sounds great to me. And 10£/$ is not a lot. Seriously.

Hey at least this isnt EA where we would have to sign up for some ridiculous facebook for gamers thing and we would have to pay for "extra" content such as portraits or traits.

..instead we pay extra for unit skins, music, portrait creator and an expansion that unlocks what's already in game but has been locked for modders? I just don't buy unit skins etc. but I don't get what point you're trying to make.
