I mean really, why are you doing this to yourself?
A big new dlc/expansion is worth 20... The video game industry just never seems to follow with inflation.
Of course you have your awesome marketing guys so who am I to tell what is right or wrong?

Maybe this isn't quite as big as a full-fledged expansion like Divine Wind or For the Motherland? I think those cost me more than $10.

Not everyone earns money at the same rate, and not everyone lives in European welfare states. Have you seen the minimum wage in the United States recently? Taking into account Americans have to pay for healthcare, etc?

I live in Russia, don't tell me that.

Not everyone in Russia earns money at the same rate either. There's people that can afford Paradox games easily, and there's folk that can't, and that goes for both countries. There are lots of people under the poverty line in the US too, you know.

I know. Still, there are Steam discounts for the people like that. I am talking about people that have money, but just don't want to pay 10$ for "just muslims_playable=yes", they want it all for free.

While no one likes hiking prices, it's not hard to understand that the gaming industry does not focus on people living on less than $2 a day.

This isnt big enough to be worth 20$, and calling it an expansion was a bit misleading in the first place. Paradox expansions marketed at the price points you suggest always had alot more major new content features than this. If it also revamped pagan gameplay and opened up Republics or something, sure, but as it stands, clearly they've broken up the typical content of one major 20$ expansion into several (5) 10$ DLCs. Its a good way to make more money, sure. But dont think they're running a charity over there, nor that customers wallets are unlimited. I absolutely wouldn't buy this for 20$. I feel a little ripped off as it is that they're selling the sprites and the music separately.

But they're pretty generous with the patches, and I like that, and I want to encourage it, so I'll grab it. But the way I see it, they're definitely following the industry trend of new, higher price-points through DLC.

Poverty in advanced societies is more insidious. You could be making much more than that and still be in poverty, given the relative disparity in the cost of living between countries. Hence why the US poverty threshold is set higher than $2/day. I'm talking about people who can just afford the price, but who may have to think hard about it - people for whom that may literally mean a more limited shopping budget that week. Students in the US, who put themselves in thousands of dollars worth of debt to get their education, who have no healthcare nor government welfare cover, spring to mind.

But I digress. Just something to bear in mind, I guess, before being so eager to tell Paradox to double their prices.

Mhh.. me (rich German - not, standart German citizen), has enough money to afford 20 Euro.. and i am pretty sure you guys in the USA are too.

You have to set priority .. The new Expansion for Crusader Kings you will have 40+ Hours of fun with, or alcohol you will have.. probably 3 hours fun with?

Or Zigarretts or sth. Or World of Warcraft ?

If you are not drinking, not smokeing and do not waste time in WoW you should have enough to afford an expansion. If not.. you can wait some months, untill you got the money.
Well the content of the "Expansion" is more equal to a DLC so 10 Euro are ok.*

For really poor Countries paradox can do another price. I dont mind if they sell it for less in Brazil, or even in russia. But i think 10 is way too few (for a real expansion, not this) for Europe AND US.
And if you continue thinking you poor americans cant afford lousy 20 euro for an awesome expansion, you can still move to europe..
Viva la European dream - Healthcare for everyone and Social System !
Oh wait, you americans call that communism and socialism right?

Werent the US Guys the guys who always praise the american dream and the surviveing of the fittest?

Nevermind than..

What annoys me most is the fact that it's 10 USD in the US and 10€ in Europe. Since when is one euro the same as a US dollar :/ ?

One of the reasons I like GoG. They let you decide in which currency you want to pay.

Yes indeed!

In 50 Years whole Europe will live the Eurocommunistic dream!... Except Britain.. but thats okay :D

Edit: Yes i dislike the Borders too. I would like to have the Borders of 1918 or 1914 back.. but well.
The americans granted us the Borders before Germany surrenderd.. but Britain and Russia didnt care for it.. in the end only America was against the cede of East prussia.. still totay east prussia is in Fact German (By right), and only under Polish controll.. but in the 2+4 Treatys we sadly guaranteed to not Claim them back.. (but we neve ceded them). But well.. in some years we will hopefully be 1 Europe.

Still i would rather see poland giveing back East prussia and ukraine giving back east poland (to poland of course).

But yeah.. for that i got Victoria + Hoi3.

P.S: I´ve got many friends that are polish, so i do not dislike polish people. Only their Borders.. but once we are 1 europe, i dont have to watch the borders anymore and can watch a map without getting sad.

Of course United States of Europe should have a neutral Capital.. not Bruessel. Rather Luxemburg, lichtenstein or Bern (if swiss joins).

Sorry but it's worth that, no more. Don't take CoD map packs as your basis for pricing.
