Since we're all so busy ignoring this post, let's not discuss our feelings about English AARs...
Actually, I find some of these unusual ones to be quite interesting. The one about Japan is well written, but needs more installments.
One thing though. I noticed a lot of people begging the guy to cheat. One of my first games, I was cheating left and right, and by the 1600s, France was in a position to rule the whole world, swallowing England and Portugal, and getting hungry for others. I have noticed that this leaves kind of an unsatisfying taste in my mouth.
So my next game, the one I'm doing now, is as Russia, and I just went through a horde of religious strife that threatened to tear the whole country apart! I survived it, but because the computer crashed in the middle of it all, and the autosave didn't do its job. So when I reloaded the game, I had enough time to build a butt-ton of troops. (It wasn't enough.) It got so bad that I actually ran out of troop-building capacity, and I have quite a respectable amount of it! But the riots finally ended, and no one declared independence.
I also had a quirk, and a whole army of 25,000 disappeared into thin air. One moment they were there, the next they were gone. Actually, this happened a couple times. I figured it was justification to boost the size of armies here and there, and give myself some sorely needed cannon. I have also gotten really exasperated at having so many lousy leaders; I can't conduct diplomacy with only 1 diplomat a year!
But other than that, and reducing my BB value a couple times, I haven't fudged the game outside vagaries caused by saving the game.
What do you think about the cheating thing? Do you guys regularly edit the save file to gain an advantage?

Edit my save? Bah. I can;t find my BB score to change it. I know how to access the save with wordpad but al I get up is a whole truckload of information about the rest of the world.

i'm not smart enough to cheat like that. i don't even know how to change anything in the save file. the only time i did "cheat" was when i was playing in my scotland game and i used event 49 (i think that's it anyway) to reduce inflation, which was running about 40%. i had to do something, just to stay alive.
