Problem with embargoes: cut to trade investment (not a problem at your level of investment) and cut to TE (always annoying: reduces income from merchants). To each his own, I suppose.
I suppose the Kenyan lions are better than the Detroit ones. Hobbes is better than the Detroit Lions, and he's a stuffed tiger brought to life by the imagination of a fictitious 6-year-old boy who hasn't had a new comic in 15 years or so. Quick question: if the Rams are 1-15 and the Lions are 2-14, but the Rams' one win is against the Lions, who's better? Sorry, but once I get on any sort of jag, I can't stop. And your sig reminds me of MythBusters. But that has nothing to do with anything. So why did I say "and"? Stop writing, enf91.

I hope you are planning on expanding our Indian holdings before going in other directions right now. ;)

Then again, seeing Austria annexed is never, ever a bad feeling....

Swahili and Mutapa deserve to be finished off and put out of their misery.

Futhermore, Persia must be destroyed.

Forget Norway. Where can you see tigers? Only in Kenya.

Er, I apologize.

Right, anyway. Well done etc. etc. What are your opinions on Heir to the Throne now that it's three months into release?

I say clean the Mediterranean!
There are still enemies to be fought, especially in Iberia!
Balkans are a mess, as always. :(:p

I am ready. The game has been throwing the odd events, so it's ready. I had a hunch Europe would give us our next outing. All of the core events and nastiness have come from that direction. I figured a GTY or a warning would send us in a direction in the near future.

It turned out I was right. Been at war pretty much since with 8 years to go.

To get the capital in a peace deal, it can't be connected to any other province - and sea connection counts.

Loved the chapter title

I'm just happy somebody got it... :D
And yeah. I forgot about the sea/coastline counts bit.

I figure it just gives me another excuse to DoW...
And who can't use an excuse like that...?

Come to Kenya. We've got the lions.

Isn't it bad enough we have to see them every Thanksgiving...?

Problem with embargoes: cut to trade investment (not a problem at your level of investment) and cut to TE (always annoying: reduces income from merchants). To each his own, I suppose.

Yes, embargoes cut you a little. But it's well worth it when a nation loses it's 5 or 6 merchants worth of income in your richest CoT. That and I can afford it. Many a nation has lost big time trade income for messing with me.

To answer your question, it depends on who the Lions beat. If they squeaked out wins against Cincinnati and Tampa Bay at home, The Rams. If the Lions went up to Chicago and in -13 degree wind chills took them down, and went out and beat San Diego on the coast, then I'd say the Rams got lucky. :p

-I hope you are planning on expanding our Indian holdings before going in other directions right now. ;)
-Then again, seeing Austria annexed is never, ever a bad feeling....
-Swahili and Mutapa deserve to be finished off and put out of their misery.
-Futhermore, Persia must be destroyed.

I have been following the games lead this time around, just to get back into form.

VIJ has been busy, so I'm letting her wrap up whatever she's dealing with. Right now she'd be a very easy target. I don't want another Ottoman.

Austria is a good annex, but as of now they're right of center, and holding a Hungarian province that aint worth much. The other two aren't really needed. It could go either way.

You can have Swahili. They didn't get much in the way of decent anything this time around. Mutapa... meh. Some gold south as always. Maybe.

Persia will be engaged, but not yet. I've been letter her solidify a bit. She has alot of stragglers province wise that would make war too easy.

The GH is surprising me, holding off both lucky Novgorod and lucky Persia... I have a feeling if I mix it up with either the GH or Persia, I may end up facing them both. (The enemy of your enemy and all that...)

Why don't you have hegemony over the entire arabian peninsula?

Please See Below.

antracer seems to have an unexplainable tendency to not conquer sandpits

Indeed. Though not unexplainable.
What's half of nothing...?
What's a whole lot of nothing equal...?
If I have the world's largest box and it's chock full of nothing, what do I have...?
Exactly that... Nothing.
That's what it amounts too in 3/4 of the provinces out that way. I'll take what I have to, as I did with Asyut, Libya etc. But I'm not taking the baggage if it's not in the path to where I'm headed.

Besides, we have a bunch of worthless Islands to settle... The 50% Inhospitable and the Tropical and the No Connection to Capitol are going to be ruthless in making almost every last Island settled a baggage claim.

And I really don't like that area. Not in real life mind you, in game terms only. The way it's modeled can suck the life from your marrow and leave your carcass so bad even the vultures won't eat it.

The nations indigenous to the area have decisions to help boost income and revenue that aren't available to we who come from other places. I like the fact that it doesn't benefit you to be there if you don't belong there, it's a great concept. The fact I hate taking land there shows it's working very well... ;)

Forget Norway. Where can you see tigers? Only in Kenya.

Er, I apologize.

Right, anyway. Well done etc. etc. What are your opinions on Heir to the Throne now that it's three months into release?

That it needs to be balanced. Combat is too easy. Missions of substance peter out quickly. Pirates still suck. It's better than IN. I'll never play 3.2 again after this is done. I like the new HRE and Cardinals, but I wish I could still bribe and/or influence them a bit. Nice that Manufactories are more reasonable. It's pretty. When's the final patch coming.

The usual stuff... :D

HTTT is good, but I've had to mod a few weird events to make them make more sense, mostly the dynastic ones.

I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be doing alot of that also. A lot of little quirky things going on. Really to be expected with that kind of effort.

I'd really like to see some commands/defines added. So much you still can't change.

Insert the obligatory super bowl joke here while awaiting an update. :)

Actually, aside from the fact I could care less who won, it was a decent game. The commercials were actually funny. The worst part about it was the make believe half time show. The WTF... Er, The Who what's...? Who cares they sucked. Waste of a good 10 minutes.

The baby commercial for E-trade was hilarious... (Milk a what...?)

------

As you may have noticed, I started on the next play segment.

Due to our size, it's 16.9 years on a slider move now, so it'll be a bit before I finish.

Anyone care to guess who got in line first to feel the Rust
...Er...Wrath...
Of the Empire...?

I agree. I didn't follow this NFL season at all, and I was pleasantly surprised by how the game turned back and forth.

I even agree about the Who, who I generally can force myself to enjoy. I was holding out for Behind Blue Eyes, probably their best song, but instead they played mediocre songs terribly, reminding the world that past 50 you oughtn't try to be a rock star.

EDIT: Also, seriously, slider changes that far and few? I don't think even my largest of empires had that delay. Almost reminds one of NA..

It was a good game. I liked the gutty calls by the Saints. Haven't seen that in a big game in a long time. I actually shouted at the onside kick. That's a set of brass ones right there. You at least have to admire that. Feel sorry for Manning, but he's had his shot, and he got flustered. He only gets beat if you can get in his head, and New Orleans did. He was on the sideline for what, 70 minutes real time...? That's gotta be agony.

I too was awaiting that song... But as soon as they cut off Pinball Wizard like they kicked the CD player I lost any hope of a respectable performance. I have no problem with old guys doing the show, as long as they remember they're old and play with respectability instead of pretension they still have it. And I hate mixing up songs like that. Play 3 or 4 good ones and be done. I kept thinking I had to yell at the kids to quit messing with the stereo.

I've had 25 year slider changes. We may actually hit that with a decent government before end game. Alot of Provinces does that to you... :p

It's a landslide too - seven votes to three for the second place finishers. Congratulations!

Congrats on winning the EU Gameplay ACA, antracer! Well deserved, it's a great AAR you set up here.

I would like to make a special toast to everyone who nominated and voted for the AAR...

It took me the better part of an hour to find the thread, and then to check it out and see what this was...
I must say I felt like a bit of a ditz...

But after seeing what it took, who the competition was...
I have to say I'm... Um... Speechless.
As you all know, words aren't usually a problem for me, but I am completely blown away by this.

A big, heartfelt Thank You to anyone and everyone who had anything to do with it.

And maybe even a hug.

A man hug, that is.

And no kisses. Those are only for the dog.
Last time I tried to kiss the wife she stuck her nose in between us and licked the inside of my nostril...
And trust me when I say this: Shock and Awe have nothing on the dogs breath...

Seriously.

Thanks Guys (and Girls).

May the Pink Sleeves Reign Alternative History for Ever and Always...!

I reckon... the French, violating a guarantee. Please say so? I want to see those Blueheads go down]/I]! Again!

Looks like I'm not the only winner today... I just finished up a bit ago...
I think you shall be quite pleased.

It's a landslide too - seven votes to three for the second place finishers. Congratulations!

And yes, I of course did realize why you aren't taking the sand pits, just fooling around there ;)

Still shaking my head. I just don't "win" things, y'know...?

I was hoping you wouldn't mind me using your remark as the spring board... :D
It fit so well with the question above it...

And really, I don't think hedges grow well in the sand anyways...

I didn't watch the Superbowl, haven't been able to watch NFL since they brought in replays, but it's sad to be reminded that The Who are past it. I definately agree about Behind Blue Eyes, that song is immense!

Back on topic I usually make sure I have Land of Opportunity before I settle the spice islands, but I'm usually in the middle of huge colonisation efforts by then. Would it be worth adopting here?

TV has ruined so many good things. Remember when you tuned in to watch the game...? Heaven forbid we have to have the audience watch the game...

BBE is one of their best songs. In a way I'm glad they didn't play it... The way they were butchering everything else it would have hurt to have had to hear it done that way.

I was looking at the NI's as I played today. I'm pretty much done with the REFormation, at least I was before all the wars... Even so, I can pull an average of 20% without the NI, so I was trying to swap it all session long. Every time I got ready I got hit with an event or something silly to keep me from letting it go.

I'm almost to tech 27 which opens a few monster NI's... but I may think about LoO... I just don't know how much colonizing I'll really have to do. Brunei and Japan are taking care of some of it now, and I can't quite get to the Asian Pacific yet. I'd have to take QTFNW for a bit to get there. Not sure I want to waste the time with it though.

I have a monster day tomorrow. Soonest I can start updates will be Wednesday depending.

Wars and rumors of wars boys... 16.9 years of it.

Till then...!

Well done! I'm around page 48, so I've not finished reading yet, but, as an Italian, I HAD to warn you: your translator is an idiot. 8D

"Traforare le maniche" means "Drilling the sleeves". 8D
I'd suggest Maniche Rosa (Pinksleeves) or, in line with the "Giubbe Rosse" (Redcoats), "Giubbe Rosa" (Pinkcoats). This is all. Back reading. 8D

In the cause of better judgment, and because Sir Enewald said so, we just left it with the plain old English "Pink Sleeves".

It was run through two translators by me, and they argued with each other. One even gave me translations for "pinko" commie bastages.

I do thank you for the translation help, though I just have to say I don't think we can use pink, drilling and sleeves all together.
Unless we're thinking of making condoms...

Carry on. And Thank You for reading...!
