Or another HoI game. I think that HoI4 is more probable given the time that passed since last expansion. V3 would make more sense though if Pdox wanted to release euiv converter. I don't care which punk is it, both will make my day. (I preffer V3 though)

Makes sense, but considering that East vs West is due soon, it might be a good idea to go for V3 first. I know EvW is not from PDS, but it's a HoI game and will satisfy the HoI fans (me included). I still hope that V3 will come before HoI4.

People keep mentioning corporations. What exactly would corporations do to the game that isn't already represented by Capitalists groups? This wasn't the era of giant multinational companies we know today, so I can't see how inclusion of a microeconomic element in a macroeconomic oriented, country-level game would improve upon it.

And seriously: I'm not dismissive about the idea, I really want someone to convince me, because it sounds intriguing :)

Standard Oil? US Steel? Krupp? Those companies had more power than anything today.

I'd prefer a Victoria III with a EU IV converter. The problem with Victoria is that it's a short time period (in comparison to CK II and EU IV) so there isn't that much time for significant historical diversion. Therefore I think an EU IV converter will increase the enjoyability since the game will have differant starts so that you can't rely on your try and true strategies since the geopolitical landscape will be different each time.

At least it would for myself personally.

Standard Oil? US Steel? Krupp? Those companies had more power than anything today.

The problem is there are only a few of these monoliths of industrialization. And only in the big successful nations. Also you have a similar problem as you have with trench warfare. While it was very common for the top nations in the later years of Victoria 2. This was not the case for all the rest of the world.

You would need a special case for the biggest nations and not the smaller ones.

With Corporations it could be that one can form for the top 3 products for any great power if they have a major production of the world when one tech treshold get reached. And those could have mechanics to influence internal politics. But it would not make sense for every nation to spawn countless of these corporations.
Especial since the whole concept of corporations rather fall under the 1900 time span. As said you encounter a similar problem as with the whole trench warefare and the change in military tactics.
And even more with the change in national economics of planned economy, those entity's would make even less sense.

But yes there is no denying of the pull these giants had and special political considerations.

You didn't gave an answer to what these corporations would do in game. What would be their impact in game play?
Special groups similar to rebel factions with stronger impact on the financial status of the nations? And what would it be for not so industrialized nations?

I find it questionable to integrate a special system for these corporations that might only impact half of the GP in game.

I'm not saying they should be in the game. The economics are sufficient as is and adding corps probably doesn't add anything. I was just being a stickler to the point that "companies weren't as powerful back then as oppose to today" because if anything, without monopoly laws the opposite was true.

Random thought on the combat system, why not put a army size limit on provinces (evolution with tech, etc.) so that you can have max N*1000 number of men in it.

If the limit is attained, an army can't get into the province, an enemy who tries to get into the provinces directly starts attacking (move=attack in this case).

If there is still place in the province, then you start moving in it and we have a normal field battle.

This should be tweaked of course but the main idea is there, put conditions on the move=attack so that it's more a phenomenon proper to the great wars in endgame (max limit could go down with tech, if the decreased limit is combined with increased defensiveness it would make the tradeoff interesting since you can create a more effective line of defence (and when attaining WWI tech level any attack on a full province would result in horrifying casualties.

Anyway I'm confident you'll find a good system for the sequel !

Does steam keep statistics even if one (as one should) removes the game files from the steam folders? If so, the actual ammount played may be even twice as high.
