The grey provinces aren't as easy to colonize as in EU. They're uncivilized, roaming barbarians who you must conquer or assimilate.

I think most Americans of Germanic descent just think of themselves as "Americans" and don't worry about great-great-great-[...]-great-grandpa who was a marauding tribal chief.Darkarbiter said:Oh please... as if the average American cares about his ancestry  .

Not that that's a bad thing.![]()

I'm writing a book adventc, but if you do VERY well you can go into some government positions (Helps if it's a nice University too) where they'll train you up in intel analysis or something, although a masters/doctorate are better and they usually want someone specializing in a certain nation/region. Also you can always go into business whatever your degree is in. I'm also German/Irish(You do not wish to drink with me...mwhaha, lol).adventchild667 said:I am half german (not really sure on anything more specific than that) and my dad is full german. we both care (me much more than him) about our ancestry just becuase we find it interesting. i am a history major in college (any idea on what you can do with that besides teach?) and for awhile now i have been planning on tracing back my family line.

That -is- true to a certain extent, and I'm certainly not an expert on the subject, but from my amateur perspective, it seems like ethnic background is more important in Europe than in the US. Especially since a lot of people are 1/4 Irish 1/4 Polish 1/4 Cherokee 1/4 Cuban, or random assortment of ethnicities people's heritage consists of. /shrugStratege said:But seriously: By American movies one often gets the impression that for Americans it is quite important whether they are “Irish” or “Italian”, even today.
