Hey. So, decided to go for One Faith again as my last run (as Muscovy) failed due to me not dealing with the colonizers soon enough, and my colonial nations being unable to convert all of the new world in 50 years.

This time, I decided to go with the Ottomen instead and so far I feel like things have been going on schedule. I decided to pick exploration early which in hindsight was a huge mistake; influence/diplomatic would've benefitted me a lot more with Exploration being a decent fourth or five pick.

The new world is horribly underdeveloped as France and England just now unlocked Exploration, and Iberia got in a world of pain as me, France, and Morocco descended on them. Persia is a loyal vassal (gasp!) and I am currently annexing Aragon (used the Age of Exploration ability to take them as vassal in peace deal for half cost/AE). Have Hungary and France as allies. As you can see, Russia has been thrashing the Commonwealth pretty bad and I have not intervened at all in that region of the world.

At the moment, I am trying to plan ahead for the next 20-30ish years. I will continue gobbling up India and I plan on going to Indonesia as well. Africa will be left alone for a while, but I want to start taking bites off of England/Russia and start setting up for my first wars with Ming (only country that has a bigger army than me at the moment). I'll be ditching the alliance with France but they've been a useful coalition deterrant so far, so I might keep them for another 50-60 years while I take out the other European major powers.

I would really appreciate some tips/advice. I've done WCs in the past, but One Faith is just on an entirely different scale and this is my second really serious attempt at it.

If you go revolutionary and start on the colonizers first after doing so, you can simply full annex colonizers to get their CNs, force religion --> build cathedrals en masse' in the new world and they'll convert in about 50 years, give or take. Since it will all be cored right culture for them and most provinces won't be developed they'll be converting province/year or faster.

Subjects can be pushed into speed conversion similarly. Anything with religious is great, but as long as they don't have positive tolerance they'll convert well if you throw cathedrals all over their land. For example I fed Shun their cores + a bit more as Catholic in current Poland run (deleted buildings before releasing to open space) and thanks to Cathedrals they were done with all but 1 province when I annexed later.

Are you Sunni? If so client states won't work in the late game for conversion thanks to Dhimmi so be careful about that. Christian republic client states have exactly 0 tolerance and will convert...again halfway competently if you micromanage their provinces before handing over to make sure you can carpet them in Cathedrals. Sunni is still plenty good though; I got the achievement with Sunni Ottomans this patch.

Your progress looks fine to me.

Please take into account that there are religion changing events for colonies in the game which are blocking conversion for 20years. So you should finish before 1800.

^ You don't really need much proper conquest in the new world though, and if you have access to buying/stealing map DLC can skip exploration entirely.

In his situation I'd press for India + especially Zanzibar (trade company land, gold, and can get +2 diprep from trading in ivory to annex subjects faster, all without hard wars).

European wars vs. colonizers would end much faster with some early CNs.

How so? I'm not picturing why this is the case. Even in the end game you can do full annex without even putting troops in the new world typically. You'll want to ship some to protect converted CNs against zealot rebels but aside that I'm not seeing how having a CN already makes the war vs overlord faster.

When the colonizers are small enough that most of their development is overseas, you'd need to siege down their CNs anyway to inherit due to war score distribution. Early CNs would make other CNs smaller and can even help in those wars. Earlier CNs also mean stable CNs later and easier access to inland natives.

Certainly not, I had to offload the OE after 2-shotting France, and only had ~70% war score in the war where I full annexed them.

I don't trust my own CNs unless I gun them early as part of the income funnel throughout the game. They lost battles (not good for rev), get carpeted or just idiot their way into 10+ WE, and I've never had any trouble annexing overlords in rev age without touching new world at all. Maybe it takes me 1-2 years longer per colonizer in the last, full annexation war? Maybe, but I'll pay that price. I can core something else meanwhile.

Maybe it's different with rev CB but I have lots of experiences where the WS is something like 230 or 330 and the last war requires carpet sieging all of their CNs to annex the mainland. With that said I should've probably thought about the war score balance and left a full 90 or 100 WS in Europe for the last war.

Rev CB + diplomatic is crushing, it's ~600 development at 100% war score, maybe more.

AIs are much more willing to peace out if their troops are dead, even if you don't occupy everything.

In this run with my OBVIOUSLY OPTIMAL IDEA GROUPS Truce with France expired 1760, they were off the board in the next war at ~70-75% war score. Their own + subject development according to great power list was 1118, obviously much of that was in new world subjects. By the time I put down the forts in South Africa and Ivory coast, it barely took any further WS to demand full annexation. GB was similarly one-shot not long after at ~45% war score. I ignored new world for both of these.

Rev CB should make this cheaper in WS but otherwise wouldn't be changing the interaction.

I took about 630 using imperialism + diplo ideas so with a bit math it's about 800 dev actually.

I see aristocratic in your idea set, I know they've been reworked, are they now worth taking?

I would say generally not, but with Poland and not having the "winged hussars" achievement I decided to mix it up. It's certainly less dead weight than before though, the diplomat is nice as always and having guaranteed siege pips + extra general is pretty attractive. The rest is...okay.

Having committed to that, I went heavy on vassals + making them claim stuff to feed them until absolutism. It was okay but we're not competing with admin/influence/diplomatic/religious early like that. Good enough to 1-tag though apparently.

I was also pleasantly surprised by "China" in this game. After slamming Ming for many hundreds of development, I made that and gave it over 300% overextension. I annexed a few other vassals ahead of it, but it's going to have everything cored 30 years later or so. Client state rebels suck compared to rev-boosted stuff so they'll spit out a bunch, sit on -3 stab with recent uprising, core until they're ~10% overextended, then stab up. Much less hassle than holding high OE myself. A couple 300+ dev client states in Europe have been similar. Christian republic client states will even convert heathens!

Only for a small handful of nations that can use it, sometimes with the Aristocratic/Espionage policy, to make stupidly powerful cavalry-heavy armies, like Poland.

If you're never going to have more than 6 cavalry units in any of your armies past the 1600's, other ideas will give you more for your monarch points.
