One Eagle to Rule Them All
The Cold War

(A HOI - Darkest Hour NWO 2 United States of America AAR)

Hello internet surfers of this Swedish Forum we like to call Paradox, after many unfortunate setbacks on my other AAR: Hail to Thee in Victor's Crown, I will be starting anew. Don't worry, the Kaiser isn't throwing in the towel, but he's gonna take another long break. I just don't have the will to write that story as of now. Ever since I watched Peacekeeper's WW3 series, and when I discovered this beautiful mod, I've wanted to create an AAR so bad in it. Of course, this was going to be a Interwar, WW2, THEN Cold War series but that would have taken too long and boring. That isn't to say that what was going to happen in that didn't. This America is an America that activated War Plan Red when a warhawk British Empire in 1935 refused to allow America to escape it's debt scott free, forced into WW2 by a Japanese Declaration of War, and hopefully won't be starting WW3 with the Soviets. This will be a modded version as well, my own events and such, different scenarios and a whole different world. Updates should be out every week. Seeing as US Presidential Elections are coming and are arguably the worst since forever, why not celebrate with an AAR that could doom it all. This is, the One Eagle to Rule Them All. Thanks for reading.

Prologue: The Awakening Giant (Part I of II)

"And Conquer we Must when our Cause is Just!" -Excerpt from the Star Spangled Banner

----------------------------------------------
The Second World War, fought between the victorious Allied Powers and the defeated Axis Powers of Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, and Fascist Italy had finally come to an end. America, now the most powerful nation on Earth, in the time span of just a decade she has grown so much. This all started in 1917, when America put boots on the ground in Europe to fight in the First World War. America became more involved, more rich, and more dangerous - to her enemies. America after the war experienced a bright future in the early 20's, turning down threats from France and Britain over war debt never to be paid, and helping other nations in need. However, things took a bumpy and dark turn for the worst when the US Stock Market crashed. In addition, new leaders in Europe had arisen, leaders who wanted either America's destruction or America's subservience. Warhawks and Nationalists rallied the British People into voting for them, promising a new future for the empire. Should Britannia stay on her course, her empire would go down, but if it perhaps expanded, expanded into places that are troublesome for the Empire then it might succeed in staving off collapse. First, Egpyt was reannexed along with Iraq, then Persia, and finally Tibet. But this wasn't enough, not enough to keep the British from attacking something it thought it could win against. America. In addition, Fascism gripped the Italian People, they waged a brutal war against the Ethiopians, but perhaps the most impactful change was the 1933 General Elections in Germany. Germany, the biggest loser of the First World War now had an Iron Will for revenge. Adolf Hitler, their leader, turned Germany into an economic superpower in just two years, the same time when The Third Independence War began.

British Soldiers firing off Mortars at American Soldiers during the First Battle of the Philippines near the outskirts of Davao.
The US Government ever since the assassination of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (presumptive 1932 Democratic Party Nominee) by MI6 Agents had been preparing for war with Britain for a long time. His runner up was also his biggest rival, Huey P. Long, but he set aside his rivalry with FDR just a few weeks before his death. With the Kingfish controlling the White House, and Garner at his back, the parties of America were more united then ever, united for one goal: Making Britain Pay. The President got his wish in the Spring of 1935, when a Canadian Border 'Incident' in Maine caused the British Empire to declare war. Within minutes, Operational Plan Red was put into affect the Invasion of Canada started. US Troops crossed the border in for spearheads, a naval invasion and gas attack on Halifax, a naval confrontation in the Great Lakes, a push from both Alaska and Washington into the Canadian West Coast, and finally, a straight up invasion to Winnipeg and New Brunswick. All attacks failed. The gas attack at Halifax gave Britain the excuse to use secret stockpiles of poison gas of their own, the Canadian Army also managed to repel the invasion of New Brunswick and counter attack deep into Alaska with British aid. In a few days what was hoped to be a quick victory over by Christmas had turned into another bloody war for historians to gawk about. The British, after gathering an army of three million men from the Commonwealth and from the Home Isles then invaded the United States. Indian Soldiers took Manila, the ANZACs captured Honolulu, and the British once again set ablaze to Washington D.C. The Nation was on it's last legs, and only one final push could assure America's survival. America launched the greatest counterattack in history on the morning of August 5th, 1935. US Armies retook the New England and Maryland, Hawaii was starved out and reclaimed, and Filipino and American Soldiers cleared the nation of all it's invaders. But just as a new hope set sail over North America, another dark force in the world stamped out the light.

Waffen SS Troops Blitz into the American West, two weeks after Hitler declared War on the 'Abominations from Across the Pond'.
Britain was beginning to lose the war in America, something needed to be done were her empire be able to stay alive. Hitler also wanted Britain's Empire to stay alive, he wanted to ally them and rule let them rule with Germany, 'Aryan Brotherhood'. The United Kingdom however would not submit itself to a lowly alliance with her former enemy, but when she was in need, that enemy came anyway. Hitler wanted to test both the newly created Wehrmacht and his secret weapon, the Waffen SS, literal Nazi Soldiers. The forces of Nazi Germany turned the tide quickly in America, while few in number they were more than a match for the rapidly depleting American Army, which by the way had thrown away the shackles of Race based units in order 'better bond as Americans', in reality it was because too many lives were being lost to sustain a system. Not like Long liked the practice anyway. Once Hitler knew that war would be lost, as Britain was moving faster and faster to collapse in North America, pulled out of the war and gave America fifty million Reichsmarks in order to secure relations. The Third Independence War ended on February 22nd, 1936, with the last German Soldier leaving North America, the Canadian Surrender, and the Armistice at Norfolk. After things had been settled, Britain let Canada be annexed and gave up on the World War One debt, she focused inward after being so badly beaten, everybody noticed this, including a certain 'ally' in Berlin.
Some people say this is where the Sun finally Set on the British Empire, but that day was yet to dawn. With Britain severely weakened in a futile struggle against the United States of America, France looked inward nervously when Nazi Germany re militarized the Rheinland and took all of the former German Schleswig-Holstein back from Denmark. Meanwhile, an eager Japanese Empire of the Rising Sun looked eerily on at Britain's determining position in the world, and even the Soviets began to poke the Lion by sponsoring communist agitators in the Home Isles and India. America had won the war, but a new and brutal one was on the horizon. The Second Great War, and the Sleeping Giant was Awakening.

End of Prologue (Part I of II)
Okay, first update of a new AAR, and everything seems fine and dandy, at least to me. I really hate having to switch from Kaiserreich but what is done is done. I know this isn't very Cold Waresque right now but don't worry, once you guys get the full explanation it will make a lot of sense and will save me from the headache of explaining why Ottawa is a city in the USA, why Britain is a republic, why there is no Commonwealth anymore, why Greece is apart of the Soviet Block, and why Austria is still apart of Germany after the war. Well actually those last two would have been explain but you get it...hopefully. And don't worry, this will be modded so nothing is stale, and I think everyone is going to really love the first chapter and the first problems of the Cold War. I'll give you a hint, it will be a literal cold (as in chilly) war at some point. Goodbye and have a nice day, or night.

I get the feeling that you really, really don't like the UK. They always seem to be the villains/punching bags in your AARs. :D
Well.....this is awkward. Lol. (I don't hate the UK people, I just...use them for uh, roles. Totally)

Prologue: The Awakened Giant Part II of II

"No matter how long it may take us, the American People and their Righteous Might will see through until Absolute Victory!" -Huey Long, Former President of the United States

=============================================================
September 1st, 1939.

The Third Independence War had shook the world alright, America was for first time in a century invaded by a foreign power, and it was the first time America stood atop of the world. Despite everything, she made it, and Britain did not. Her empire in North America was gone, everything from the Bahamas, to Jamaica, and sweat old Canada was lost. However, while the British Empire was slowly collapsing due to it's defeat, the other growing power of the big three, the USA, the USSR, and the one in question, Nazi Germany, began to mobilize for all out war. France had grown weak since it's might in the First World War, and Britain was virtually just it's island. They let Germany rearm, they let Czechoslovakia and Austria fall, they let Denmark fall under Fascist Puppets, and they just let Hitler's Empire grow. On the first of September, 1939, Nazi Germany demanded from Poland the Polish Corridor, the strip of land separating West and East Prussia. The Poles refused, knowing that they were guaranteed by France who forced Britain to guarantee, and so Germany invaded at dusk. War had broken out, and the Second World War began when France and Britain joined the war.

After Poland capitulated, The Nazis, using bases in Fascist Denmark invaded Norway for control of the Iron Supply in Europe, Romania and Hungary joining the Axis Alliance soon that year. In the Spring of 1940 the Nazi Blitzkrieg came for the Low Countries, like their forefathers they once again fought a bloody war in France, but by the time Verdun had been taken, the French had lost their will to fight. Paris fell without a fight, Italy joined the war on their northern cousin's side, and soon enough the British were alone and hurting. After disaster in North Africa, Suez being taken and Jerusalem falling to Germany, Spain and Portugal joined the Axis. Gibraltar held out bravely, but even they succumbed to the Fascist Disease. In a heartbeat...

Britain Stood Alone.

The United Kingdom might have been beaten in the war against the United States, but she would not go down without a fight against Hitler. Red, White, and Blue, these three colors adorned Britain for the last two centuries and she would be damned if they didn't continue. Having lost much of both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, the Nazi Hydra found its way onto the British Isles, first invading through neutral Ireland and then through the Channel onto Dover. The Nation refused to surrender. Winston Churchill, while not Prime Minister, he was a fierce patriot of the British, he was the de facto leader after London was destroyed in the largest bombing in history. The Luftwaffe killed acting Prime Minister Lord Halifax who funnily enough was about to surrender the nation. The Battle of Britain was here.

"We are United in our Common Interest. Englishsmen, Scotts, Welsh, and Irish. British. That is what we should really call ourselves. No longer a divided people, but one of great strength and courage to go on even when hope is lost. How dearly I love this Island, this Island of beauty, good willed people, from the King to St. George. I love it all, and like you I do not wish it to go away.

The Prime Minister may be dead, the House of Commons may lay in Ruins, our Capital may be destroyed, but that does not mean it is over, it does not mean our will to go on is lost. We are not the French. Even now, De Gualle continues his nation's struggle from the safe shores of America, a nation we have hurt badly. Regrets however are useless now, when the final fate of Europe and the World is at stake. If we capitulate, at least without giving Hitler a bloody nose, we will go down in history as weak frogs. Is that what you, the British People want?

This is not your Father's War. The German Hun is no longer that, he has grown smart, the enemy has learned from the last blood letting. That should not deter you from doing your duty as freemen. Believe it or not, Freedom isn't Free. It needs to be guarded with the blood of Patriots and Heroes. If we forsake our duty as a free, democratic nation, and break all bonds of fellowship, we will not only fail this responsibility, but we will shame it. That day will not be today! We're going to survive, we're going to live on! I bid you, Men of Britain, make like your ancestors and stop the Nazi Menace!

News from the front has reached my ears that the British Army will be conducting it's most dangerous operation yet - Driving back Hitler's Drones. Dover, the Channel Islands, Glasgow, Dublin along with Southern Ireland, Cornwall and Cardiff have fallen. This plan might succeed, it will be a radical wake up call, if not too the Germans then the rest of the World untouched by Hitler's Wrath - That it can be stopped. Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it. Our Hearts are made of Iron, and if we do not at least try then we are no better than the enemy. Soulless. All men of Britain you must join the fight, this the biggest plea I will ever make in my life. If we retake Britain, hope, something all of us have lost, will come again, and we will wave the Union Flag over Berlin!

ob_40c4d5_new-zealanders-were-among-the-combatan.jpg

Perhaps it is fate that Today is the First of July, a day all of your Fathers remember, like them you will be fighting for our Nation, for our Freedom. Not only from Tyranny, Persecution, Oppression, but also Annihilation. We're fighting for our Right to Exist, to breath the fresh air of Liberty...and should we win the day. The First of July will no longer be the worst day of Britain's Army, no longer it's Darkest Hour, it will be honored as the Finest Hour in all our history.

hqdefault.jpg

We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in England, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!"

Churchill did more than rally the British around their flag, he inspired them with a fire never yet seen before. For the first time in the war, an enemy of Nazi Germany retook it's cities, it's lands, and threw off the Nazi Shackles. For a brief moment, the German Army had been beaten back to Dover, their main base of operations on Great Britain. Unfortunately, more and more reinforcements from Spain, Italy and Germany itself turned the tide once again, and by October 1940, the Battle of Britain was over. London shared the Nazi Flag. All of Europe was Hitler's now, and with that notion assured, he turned east, east to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the Communist Superpower on the rise. Meanwhile, in Asia, with the fall of both of the French and British Empire's and the war in China nearly won, Japan began preparations for a hostile takeover of Oceania, the American Pacific, north into the Eastern USSR, and of course, South East Asia and India. India actually decided to court favor with Tokyo, joining their Co-Prosperity Sphere shortly after the Indian Revolution overthrew their British Overlords. With Indians swelling into the ranks of the Imperial Japanese Army, the last Chinese Fortress fell within a matter of months. The Axis was then joined by the Japanese Empire of the Rising Sun, their alliance was close to dominating the whole planet. Only two things stood in their way.

The United States of America, the last bastion of freedom's wrath in the world, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the Red Crusaders.

Untitled 1.png

The US and the USSR both shared a common interest after Britain and France fell along with the dust of their ending empires: Stopping Nazi-Japanese Tyranny from taking over the world. While they were both different ideologically speaking, at least if they worked together then the world would still have a chance of salvation, from a future of hermits, racists, genocidal fascists and the totalitarian. Together, Huey Long and Joseph Stalin signed off on the creation of the Allied Powers, the Coalition against the Axis, the avenging of all those who died before them. It took weeks to convince, but one by one most of Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Dutch Indonesia, and South Africa all joined later. The Battle of Gods was coming, and came it did, for on the morning of May 5th, 1941, Nazi Germany and the Axis Powers declared war on the Allied Powers.

South Africa quickly fell after Johannesburg was taken by the Italians, and the Japanese launched a surprise attack on the US Navy still anchored in Pearl Harbor. The Second Battle of the Philippines started when Japanese Marines landed on the shores of of the Island Nation, soon all was gone except for Manila. General MacArthur refused to surrender the city, and in doing so he started the Siege of Manila, the longest siege in history. Manila never fell. Mobilization came for all Allied Nations, but in America the sheer industrial might turned the US truly into the most powerful of the superpowers, being able to field a mass army and produce enough war materials to win total war, having enough bullets to kill off the world population forty times.

Meanwhile, a huge American expeditionary force reclaimed Africa after a year long struggle to retake the continent, but with the Italian Army falling apart and the German Army still busy in Russia, the war in Africa was won by 1942. There was really nothing special to it, it was mostly just capture and shoot. Speaking of the Soviets, the Soviet Union was invaded from two directions, one from the West lead by the Nazi Force, and the other lead by the Japanese, but really it was mostly Indian and Chinese Conscripts who would be doing the fighting. For a scary moment, it seemed as if the USSR was going to fall. The Germans had cut off Leningrad, taken Stalingrad, and were on the Gates of Moscow, but losing was not in Stalin's Vocabulary.

In on the most relieving counterattacks in history, bolstered with millions and billions of American supplies, the Soviet Army embarked on a great defense and counterattack. While Germany had taken Stalingrad, their rear was virtually unguarded, as in only Romanians were guarding it. The Soviets lead by Zhukov, their most competent general, attacked across the Volga and destroyed the Romanian Invaders, leaving the German ones encircled in the city of Stalin. The Battle of Stalingrad was the most bloodiest in the war so far, but in the end the Germans of the Reich Sixth Army were either all dead or in Soviet Custody, which can be considered dying. The Reds did not stop there, while the fate of Stalingrad was still being fought over, the Siege of Leningrad ended with the elimination of the Germans who were attacking the city, the Finns with no other support retreated back over to Karelia.

With the Soviet Union still in the fight and Germany reeling from it's defeat at the disasters on the Eastern Front, The United States took the first step of liberating Europe. Operation To Anacreon In Heaven, the Liberation of Ireland, Britain, and Iceland. Launching from ports in American occupied Danish Greenland, the US Army landed on the Shores of Galaway, Northern Scotland, and Iceland. Iceland quickly fell to the US Liberators, soon along with the rest of Ireland after Dublin was liberated. Field Marshal Patton, leader of the European Theater, personally made sure that all men fighting in that last battle were Irish-Americans, just to further salt the wound Hitler had just received. Britain expectantly was proving to be the hardest nut to crack open. Waffen SS Divisions actually were pulled from the war against the Soviets to deal with the US. They failed. By the end of 1943, the Nazis had been pushed back to South England, London being liberated entirely by the British Resistance put together by Churchill before his execution by the Nazis.

The war in Britain ended where it started, on the Cliffs of Dover. Britain was fully cleansed of the Fascist Disease on Christmas Eve, 1943, and with that, both the former enemies rejoiced in freedom. While the Royal Family was defunct, Britain would rebuild with or without a monarch. The Second Battle of Britain was over, and now preparations began for the Second Battle of France, and the eventual Liberation of Europe from the Nazi Menace. Operation Overlord as it was called was the US Invasion of Western Europe, as the Soviets were reeling in from the East, reaching the prewar borders of it's nation by January 1944, the US needed to make sure not all of Europe fell to the Soviets or else the world could just replace one curse for another.

As war was beginning to set in Europe, it was still hot and live in the Asian-Pacific. The Japanese quickly took over South East Asia, turning their sights further southward rather westward. The Imperial Japanese Army and Navy invaded both Australia and New Zealand quickly after the Battle of the Coral Sea ended in Japanese Victory and Allied Defeat. The Japanese landed in Darwin and Brisbane, working their way to Sydney and Perth. On New Zealand they reached the outskirts of Wellington before being beaten back, it is said that the ghost of the Duke of Wellington came back to deliver his people to victory one last time. Either way, the Japanese Invasions and Triumphs of 1941 and 1942 were rectified when the last Japanese Soldier fled Oceania in 1943, the same year Britain was liberated. Day after day, former allied soil was coming back to the fold, the Great Alliance of Freedom was delivering it's justice!

LIBERATION-PHILIPPINES-WW2-HISTORY-PICTURES-PHOTOS.jpg

An Injured Filipino Girl carried to safety by an American Marine during the closing stages of the Siege of Manila (1941 to 1944), the end of the war in the Philippines was a relief to all.

Finally, after the US Navy and Marine Corps drove the Japanese out of the Pacific, the largest ever American Expeditionary Force landed in China to begin Operation Pitman, the Liberation of China from Japan. As soon as Hong Kong and Shanghai were liberated, and as the Soviet Army crossed the Manchurian Frontier, all of China revolted. The soldiers of the old republic and Chinese Conscripts in the IJA joined the Allies in their crusade to liberate Eurasia, despite being the most difficult to liberate, China was cleared of all Axis forces by the summer of the 1944, luckily enough in time for the start of the Liberation of Europe. India quickly surrendered to the Allies too when Dehli fell, in a moment's notice, Japan was locked to it's Home Islands.

Back in Europe the situation was far worse, the Nazis were prepared for this eventual reality, an American Incursion on their continent. They created the Atlantik Wall, a series of fortifications along the European Atlantic Coast, from Narvik in Norway to Lisbon in Portugal. However, there was one flaw, that being that it was undermanned and incomplete. After all necessary supplies and men had been gathered, 400,000 US Soldiers along with 20,000 other Allied Soldiers invaded mainland Europe at three spots, the first being in Normandy, France, the next in Galicia, Spain, and the last being Mainland Denmark on the Reich's doorstep. The Spanish Landing was the first to succeed, American and Allied Soldiers taking the entire region before digging in until reinforcements arrive, then Normandy faltered, following this the Danish defenders lost all hope and retreated across to Zealand. The Liberation of Europe was at hand, and both the Soviets and the US were beginning to crush the Reich once and for all, whether German Propaganda liked it or not. Portugal and Spain capitulated after their capitals had been taken, Franco being captured and brought to the American Stronghold in London. After the Fall of Iberia, American Soldiers were diverted to Northern Italy and Sicily where the Fall of the Italian Empire commenced, the entire country falling by the time Mussolini fled to Vienna. Paris, like London, was liberated by it's real masters, the French. France soon regained its will to fight, many French People joining the ranks of the Free French Army now based in Paris. Now, the Reich was at the end of it's lifeline, the life support was about to be cut off for good.

2b6993a8bb541085572e3681d347ad7d.jpg

Fallen German Defender of Berlin, the Battle of Berlin was the first time the Soviet Union showed it's true disgusting colors to the Western Allies.
The Allied Invasion of Germany was hard fought and bloody, but now the Third Reich was beginning to collapse in on it's self. From Warsaw to Athens the Red Banner fluttered the buildings, while from London to Rome people wanted revenge for what the Nazis did to them. This was the first time however America began to realize itself as the World Leader, and as such needed to set a good example. For this reason, every American Soldier in Germany never had any form of revenge on the civilian population or the surrendering soldiers. There were reports, but it was undeniable that American Soldiers in France and Spain had done the exact opposite, mostly inspired by the British and French Soldiers in the American Army. And this was where the first division between the USA and the USSR began. The USSR and US reached Berlin at the same time and attacked at the same. The US Army lead by Patton took the western portion of the city while the Soviets took the east. However, the Nazi Government was no where in site, it was as if they just disappeared...

The Soviets and Americans immediately suspected each other of sheltering the German Government. Because Fascism was an 'evolved form' of Western Capitalism, the Truman (the new acting President after Long passed the torch in 1944) Government had saved Hitler to work for them in a future war against Communism. On the other hand, the United States accused the Soviets of harboring the Nazi Government for torture and subjugation to use for a future war against the United States and her Allies. Tensions immediately flared up in Germany, it was 1945 and already both sides were ready for war.

In West Berlin, American Soldiers gave open passage and shelter for all German Civilians and Soldiers in need, the war was over and any hatred or prejudice against the Germans had to be shed, for if America was to be a Superpower of Good, it needed to be mature. When the first shipments of Germans arrive in American Territory, the Soviets had enough and attacked. The Battle of the Elbe occurred. For the first time in their history, the US and USSR fought a military conflict, it was over the fate of Germany. Patton had already guessed the Soviets would have attack, immediately counterattacking and encircling the Soviet Army in Berlin while pressing across the Oder-Neiße River. Stalin sued for peace when Berlin was taken and the Stars and Stripes were raised over the Reichstag.

"Down! Down with the Red Banner!" American Soldiers screamed as the Battle of the Elbe ended with Soviet Defeat and American Victory. The US and USSR had to however set aside their differences one last time in order to defeat their last foe, one of the reasons why they came together when in need back in the dark days of 1941. Japan. The Japanese had fortified their island and would literally fight until each and every Japanese had been killed. The only way to stop the Japanese now was to convince their emperor to surrender, but how to do that? Well, America had an idea. Ever since Jewish-German and Hungarian Scientists were committed to using Atomic Energy against Germany as Germany was going to do the same, the United States created a weapon so powerful, it could destroy entire cities. Gone in an instant. America worked on this experimental and apocalyptic bomb to use against Germany, but the Fatherland fell before it was completed. So, there was an option, to use on Japan. Not on Tokyo or any cities, but on two Military staging areas, America did not want to kill any more civilians as firebombings had basically turned Japan into a wasteland. When the two 'Atom' Bombs were dropped on the Japanese Homeland, Emperor Hirohito surrendered the Japanese Nation to America on board the USS Roosevelt, ending the Second World War on the day it started. September 1st, 1945.

Now, as the world prepares for a long conflict between East and West, it can at least work together to repair the lives of those who were fortunate to survive the conflict, and let the all the dead rest in peace. Lest we forget, the Second World War was the bloodiest war in Mankind, nearly 70 Million People died, let us hope the future generations will learn from the past. But if they don't, let it be that Americans Will Always Fight For Liberty, as Injustice Anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere.

End of Prologue: Part II of II
I think I speak for everyone that this style of writing is a lot better than the first, and sorry for it being really long, it is just that I wanted to get this out here. THIS IS ALTERNATE HISTORY! So yes, Britain was conquered and the Empire collapsed, The Soviets managed to win a two front war, China was beaten, India rebelled, Australia and New Zealand were invaded, America well, America just did it's World Police thingy. This is all fiction by the way, my own ideas. This thread probably won't grow as to something like the Crown Atomic, but hey, I will write so long as even one person reads this, that is my policy and it will always be my policy. Actual updates will begin probably this weakened, if not next Wednesday hopefully. I kind of rushed at the end, but that was because I don't have a lot of time, but that is okay, as long as you're happy. And Baron, yes you Baron! See, I don't hate Britain, I gave it the best last stand of all time! I mean, sure it's a republic now but...uh...God Save Us All? Let me know what you all think of this new take on WW2 and the Cold War, but since it is late, I will be going to bed now, and goodbye! Have the best day of your life!

I've always had a soft spot for Long; glad to see you gave him the Justice that all those people who think he was Fascist didn't.
Yeah, besides he was liked well enough at least, he might of been able to achieve some support if he was never assassinated...
:D Great update and backstory you set up there, can't wait for more. I do give you credit for the UK's last stand, but still chafe under the US occupation of Canada. :D
Well if it makes you feel any better Canadians will be in government too, as soon as it is pacified to say the least. What I mean is, it's not impossible for a Canadian to control the White House, and well, not burn it to the ground :)

I don't think that the Wiemar flag makes sense, but the rest seem good.
Well, its actually the flag of the German Resistance to Nazism and was actually considered for the FRG, but I see your point, the Nordic Design and all.

Thumbs up to all the new flags except for Australia and New Zealand. They look like corporate airline logos.
Hmm, funny how the NZ Flag was actually considered. I don't know I just don't want them having the Union Flag because I imagined at the end of WW2 or when Britain fell they just said "nice while it lasted laddy poos" and decided to become fully independent. Although I am feeling you on the Australian Flag...I chose it because it looked like the Victoria II Australia Republic flag. Oh well. Only time will tell.

Chapter 1: The Beginning of Something New

"From Stettin in the Baltic, to Trieste in the Adriatic - An Iron Curtain has settled over Europe and the World." -Charles de Gualle, President of France

=============================================================
January 1st, 1949

The world is a changed place, gone are the days of rampant imperialism or the days of the world being cut into white and black. The Atomic Age had arrived, while the few remaining Western Democracies in Europe rebuilt themselves, and while the former Third Reich continued under 'joint' US and USSR Occupation (The Soviets only occupied East Prussia, they elected to keep the area on standby rather than annex it outright, there were still millions of Germans in Soviet Custody and Volga Germans that needed to go somewhere besides Siberia if Stalin wanted any credibility) the world moved on. This new wind that swept across Europe and the Americas also came for Africa and Asia. China was divided North and South, as was Korea, as was Indochina, and Japan and India remained under American Occupation. Africa is fairly quiet however, but most new African States are drifting to Moscow, no doubt because of Communism's lies. East to West, North to South, the world truly has entered a new age.

The Americas

a16ae644dfeeb55190d9b6329ddd7656.jpg

The Americas beam brightly in this new Nuclear World, The United States of America has grown since the days of the Second World War. In 1935 the Third Independence War began with Britain over a Canadian Border Incident in Maine, it quickly engulfed both America and the British Empire into a world dispute, if it involved more nations it would have been a World War of its own. When America eventually won this war, it gained all of Britain's North American Empire. From the Bahamas, to Jamaica, to Bermuda, and the crown jewel: Canada. The US has militarily occupied Canada now for nearly fifteen years, trying to find someway to integrate the Canadians into American Society, but it hasn't worked yet. But with a new reconstruction of government coming, that will most definitely change. Latin America still mostly supports the United States, Brazil and Mexico being chief among them, however Venezuela and Colombia seem vulnerable to Communist Incursion, and Argentina can be argued a Fascist Nation. Only time will tell if the drums of war will once again sound in the New World. In the meantime, American remains the One Eagle to Rule Them All.

Africa

ww_ii_89.jpg

Despite being completely overrun by the Axis Powers in the Fascist war the states that emerged out of the war do not carry any trace of any of their former occupiers. Egypt regained freedom from Britain again, it gravitates to the Soviet Block mostly because of bad blood, a pity. France continues to stubbornly hold onto it's Algerian and Tunisian Colonies, but it has let everything else in Africa go, albeit they are nothing but puppets with the except of neutral Morocco. South Africa has also had a switch in government policy, before the South Africans under British Rule oppressed their native African majority, but now it has been transformed into a nation that accepts both it's people. Times are hard, and besides, it would only be delaying the inevitable. Belgium still however continues to cling onto the Congo, it's only colony, the US Government expects a violent rebellion if the Belgians make peaceful resolution impossible. If such a war occurred, the United States would not help unless needed. Africa remains that wildcard that could be something great but will likely never be used.

Asia

Untitled 12.png

Asia, a continent of beauty, turned to waste. Asia is divided, more so than just ideology, but by the people themselves. Asian Communism has spread to Northern China, the more industrial region of China, and to Northern Indochina. Korea is the same, but that peninsula could be set on fire at any moment, the South Korean Army is weak and it's leader is disliked by the people, meanwhile the North has an army abnormally large and has the guarantee from the Northern Communist Chinese. As stated before, China is divided North and South with American and Soviet Troops stationed in their respective allies' borders, but that will not deter Mao (Communist Chairman of China) or Chang (President of the Republic of China) from warring with each other. The US and USSR agreed to partition China in 1945 along the 35th Parallel, creating artificial borders that realistically could not last, the Middle Kingdom was never meant to be divided. The same is true in Indochina, while neither American (the French have taken America's place really) or Soviet Troops are located in the region it is still divided and dying. It is saddening how the Red Octopus has spread to a once great continent, even in the Middle East, the new Iranian Soviet Socialist Republic now apart of the USSR after annexation in WWII continues to smear the culture and religion of the region. The Soviets have finally solved the age old Russian problem of no warm water access...now they have oil stockpiles to rival that of America on top of having sea access to the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea. This act of aggression by Moscow has pushed the once silent Middle East to the Western Block, Turkey directly joining, but that was also because of the Soviet presence on both their borders, from Communist Greek Thrace to Soviet Caucasus and Iran. Another problem arose in the Middle East, that was the question of the Jewish State. Nazi Germany was ruthless to it's Jewish Population and many fled Europe to the biblical homeland of the Jews, Israel. However, Arabs had settled there since the very old Muslim Invasion of Israel, which was apart of the Christian World. The newly created United Nations tried it's best to strike a deal but that seems impossible now as Israel and Palestine gear up for war with each other. The US is in a tough spot between those two, if it helped Israel the Muslim World would be isolated and would fall to Communism, but if it helped Palestine it would be breaking the promise of a Jewish State, and unlike Britain and France who spat in the face of an Arab State in WWI, America would not do the same. Another solution had to be out there...

Australia

YOLAca9hN7yzeZwNzRQNt7Qd1SRun2xdLJCiS3zs0quQTHupxgtDCgPre12RDvY3-DLBZE6O6ClocP8pnhzs8lwZ7UqB8ggmyySBeuzeaZSM5OXa2AjSRr-FmRfzmiTUzw_VO4-G

When Britain fell to Hitler, the British Empire, which was already decaying and dangling off a cliff, unsurprisingly fell. As such, Australia and New Zealand continued to carry on the fight against Hitler's Drones and the Japanese Invaders, but they forever removed the Union Flag from their attire. Australia and New Zealand re-branded themselves and were given a new identity based on popular things their section of the world boasted. The Southern Cross stayed on their flags, but the Union Jack was replaced either with a Kangaroo or a Silver Leaf. This also served them well in the immigration department, many of those in Europe whose lives were destroyed immigrated to Australia and New Zealand, they continue to do so, the vast majority being Italians, Britons, and Germans (in that order). The Australians have also formally annexed New Guinea as a territory, America has no qualms with this but the natives sure do. The Aussies however have banned any foreign immigration from Japan or anywhere else in East Asia, the fears of Communism and the propagandized Red Chinese or Imperialist Japanese Invasion have really hurt the Asian Image in Australia. Their neighbor New Zealand still continues to defy them however, accepting refugees from Japan and Korea. Australia and New Zealand despite their differences continue to support the Western Block.

India

Screenshot (10).png

Like Australia, when Britain was conquered by Nazi Germany and the Axis, the British Empire collapsed hard in India. What was left of the British Administration in the Raj quickly fell when the Azad Hind (Provisional Republic of Free India) with Japanese and German aid took over in a bloody but short revolution. India aligned itself with the Japanese Empire and was another puppet and cog of the Axis, and when India eventually surrendered when American and ANZAC Troops marched into Delhi. Shortly there after India was divided into three occupation zones, the South (including Sri Lanka) was occupied by the US, Bengal was jointly occupied by Australia and New Zealand, and the Northeast was occupied by the Republic of China with Delhi being occupied by the United States. India reemerged on the global map in 1947 and since then was unstable. Civil War loomed over the Indian Subcontinent as the Hindu and Muslim Populations continue to violently lash out at each other. Maybe if Britain hadn't fallen this crisis in India would have been resolved by a mediator, but the British were eager to leave the troubles of their old empire behind, and honestly, America could not blame them. India was a mess and still is, dark days are coming for the nation indeed.

Europe

ob_993980_capture-d-ecran-2016-04-13-a-15-18.png

Europe. That word now had an ominous feeling to it, the continent had gone through so much bloodshed, and it seemed that Europe was cursed by God to be the place where the fates of all was decided. First occupied fully the Axis Powers, now split in half by Western Democracy and Soviet Communism. Britain, Ireland, South Norway, Iceland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Italy were all that was left of Europe that wasn't in Soviet Shackles. Western Europe was liberated by the United States and Free France throughout 1943 and 1944, it was a race against time to stop the Soviets from taking over all of Europe. Even then, when the dust had settled over a free Western Europe, it was not the same nor would it ever be. For one, the United Kingdom was no more, replaced by the United Republic (of England, Scotland, and Wales). The British People would rebuild without a monarch, the Royal Family was gone, they vanished after Britain fell, likely executed or fled and used their wealth to take on new identities. Ireland, which was also conquered by Hitler with help from the IRA (a promise that Ireland would gain Ulster) but when everything was said and done, it was as if the entire North just gave up the will to be British. Still Protestant yes, but the general population wanted unification now, especially since the same Britain they were apart of was not the same anymore. France continues on as regular old France, however with the rise of Flemish Nationalism in Belgium, it is unclear if Wallonia will be protected by the French. Spain and Portugal, both members of the Axis, were put under American-British-and French Occupation until 1946. Spain became a republic again now closely aligned with France, and Portugal did the same as Spain just they aligned themselves with Britain. Some things never change. When Stalin conquered East Berlin he wasn't satisfied at all, he even remarked that Tsar Alexander got Paris, he wanted London and Lisbon. This luckily was prevented, all countries listed before are all allied with the United States and Western Europeans enjoy freedom as it was meant to be, the rest of Europe wasn't so lucky. Poland, Denmark, Prussia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Greece, North Norway, and Finland all were enslaved by Communism. Their banners didn't flutter their streets, the Red one did, their leaders didn't control their countries, the Communists did. An Iron Curtain as Charles de Gualle put it, it was not only a shame, but a direct attack on freedom. The Bolshevik Hydra only replaced the Nazi one in the eyes of Eastern Europe, there really was no difference between the Hammer and Sickle and the Swastika when you really thought about it. Both were deadly, both were cancers, both were created for and by men who want the world to burn, and both had lead to their destruction. But unlike the Bolsheviks, at least America and it's allies have something worth fighting for - Freedom.

Occupied Germany/Japan

Untitled 2.png

The main players of the Axis of the Second World War were both put American Occupation solely, no one else were trustworthy for the job. The Chinese would commit acts against humanity if they got a hold of any portion of Japan, the same is true for the British and French in Germany. The Communists are out of the equation entirely, the Soviets did briefly occupy Eastern Germany after the initial defeat of the Third Reich, but they threw that all away when they were beaten back over the Oder by the United States. And as a result, America has done it's best help the lives of the people tricked into war, be they Germans or Japanese. In Germany, Austria was included into the occupation and no plans were made to undo the Anschluss, if Hitler succeeded in anything it would be uniting all of the German People into one state. America divided Germany into occupation zones based on region (ex: Brandenburg Zone, Bavaria Zone, Burgenland Zone, Tyrol Zone, Saar Zone, Swabia Zone) and had help from many Germans, those who fled before the war and those who stayed behind. One of the most famous being Otto von Habsburg, he fled when Hitler annexed Austria but he returned to Occupied Germany-Austria and used his wealth to bring back lives and help those in need. Former Wehrmacht Generals and Soldiers who were guilt free of any war crimes were also called up, the Reichswehr was recreated. It was a catalyst of what America had planned for Germany, and lead by Heinz Guderian, the Reichswehr mostly just guarded Germany's exposed Eastern and Northern Borders with the vile Communists. It is planned for February 12th to be the date of the end of American Occupation in Germany-Austria, a new, second Weimar Republic would be born, this time stronger, better, and never again to fall to Nazism or Communism. In addition, America maintained the age old Prussian Traditions of Germany's Military, German Equipment from WWII was redistributed to the Reichswehr. General Elections would soon follow the birth of the Second Weimar Republic, Austria will also be given the referendum, if it wants to be independent or united. While Germany continues to heal, the same can be said for Japan, however at a much slower rate. While direct occupation is over, the new Republic of Japan is still occupied, it has no sovereignty. The Japanese People themselves needed to be de-radicalized were a new state not to follow the same path of it's predecessor. America maintained the healing operations slowly, Okinawa being given back, and the Japanese Military being revived. This wasn't appeasement, this was reconciliation. Petty differences could no longer dominate the politics of the free world when all of it was once again at stake, not directly but the threat was still there, that threat was not a weapon or a nation, but an ideology.

Communism. Everything the Reds touch turns to ash, Communism is Death, Communism is Destruction. It is better to be Dead than Red, for a Red is nothing more than a corrupted human being, all in America must be ratted out! American Victory at the Elbe and Oder Rivers should still be sending warnings to the Bolsheviks and to all Communists who seek the radical overthrow of Freedom. Freedom is the sovereign right of every American, Democracy will never be defeated, and Democracy is Non-Negotiable, Embrace it or you will be Eradicated.

=============================================================

Well, another Chapter done and completed. Uh, I must admit, I like this set up far better than the previous one with the Antarctic Nazis, its not that I didn't like the idea but that would be wasting Hitler. The Antarctic Reich will come when ready, but not during a hypothetical World War Three. If anything the Nazis will be the attackers, but for now they are hiding in New Swabia and Argentina. In other news, everything is going well, I just wish I knew what I was doing with this. I have a basic plot outline but keep in mind this was supposed to be a reverse War of 1812 AAR set in the 30s, not a Cold War AAR. I will still carry on with this AAR though, it deserves justice and so does Hail to Thee in Victor's Crown. I had to get in the Cold War mindset as well, actually it wasn't that hard, all I did was load up Fallout 3 and listened to Liberty Prime and that's when I knew what to do. Narrative story will come soon, the next chapter will basically explain what is going inside America and the transformation that will follow. Thats it for now, goodbye and just have the greatest time of your life, for life is way too short.

Restore the German monarchy under Otto Von Hapsburg!
Doesn't seem very American, I can restore the Spanish Monarchy though. Besides they were ruled by the Habsburgs once.

Man you already got rid of the British Monarchy, restoring Otto is the least you could do!
Well you'd be pleased to know that I'm trying to work Kaiserreich (i.e. Monarchy Central) again, not that I don't like working on this but not finishing my German Empire AAR is killing me. If something happens you'll know.

UPDATE:

I know an update for this AAR hasn't come for awhile, but that's because of both real life and lack of will to make the scenario and actually play this.
It was my fault really, I didn't know what I wanted to do with this AAR, evidence by me backtracking on Antarctica and failing to follow up the initial first chapter on the status of the world.
I will be creating a storyboard this time, first time I've done one but this is the only way I can get all my thoughts for this AAR and bring this to fruition. I don't want this to became another abandoned thread. I will be rewriting EVERYTHING except the Prologue because I feel that WW2 Prologue was solid and executed well, and because Churchill's speech was probably the best I've ever written.
For now, this AAR is being worked on, but I would not expect anything until perhaps October, if not then at least sometime in Winter.
Let it be known as well that the HALO AAR concept idea isn't happening, but Aliens aren't being scrapped, but they won't be in the AAR (as of now, if they are I won't announce), if you've ever seen the animated Avengers movie then you'll know what I'm talking about.
I don't know what else to say but this, this AAR is still alive, and make no mistake,

The Cold War Will Go Hot.
(probably not the best picture lol, yes we're going full wacky somewhat futuristic yet authentic Cold War technology route, that way I can use Fallout pictures and not get as many ? faces)

Very neat AAR, it's interesting the way things went. USSR annexed Iran though, huh? That's...dangerous. And Greece. I wonder how rollback will occur.
Thanks, unfortunately I haven't got a lot time to spend on this, dare I say it I've turned into you when it comes to schedules :D
