I played 1.08 just now and I can confirm there are no CB to attack the required lands to restore the roman empire. How will players deal with this and more specifically, how will someone get a claim on Latium?

As of 1.07, non-Catholics (such as an Orthodox Byzantine Empire) should be able to fabricate a claim on Rome even if it's held by the Pope.

You can still fabricate a claim on Rome and the duchy, so long as you are not catholic. So I recently found out.

Oh noes! I planned to play as Sicily to usurp the ERE and then conquer Rome last! Maybe I will have to turn temporary Orthodox or even heresy to do a holy CB on Rome. Should be interesting! ><

Only that we're really gonna like the next DLC, they're gonna make something playable that wasn't playable before. But he didn't tell us if it was gonna be pagan or something else. Also Southern European facepack is probably coming early January

So I forgot to disable automatic patching in steam and now I am 20 years from the end of the game that I have been play with a buddy.

Are we going to be able to continue it if he updates too?

With Steam, there is only one version of the game... So installing again will give you latest version....unless you know how to avert Steamish control of your license through highly talented key punching techniques.
