well apart from latin (and greek) being the primordial language of all western culture, with all languages having alot of words derived from it. law, biology, history, art, literature, even music...
i also think it's very close to a formal grammar natural language which for a 3000 year old language is a really remarkable feat. almost being the first programming language as if you knew all of it, you can't misinterpret any given combination. very few ambiguities. that alone makes it something one would learn just from curiosity.
