I have 3 major issues with the way amf. assaults are modeled in HoI2:
1.
Currently in HoI2 Its no problem for USA to dump 100 divisions the same evening as a small marine force have taken a beachhead.
In reality even if the allies had that ammount of men available they needed more than a month of non stop shipment to get them all over so some sort of limits are clearly needed on this front, either more expensive transports or less effective ones (time delay when boarding/unloading exc).
2.
The next thing I see as a problem is that the combat modifyer in HoI2 is constant.
In reality the assault would gain more and more momentum the longer it goes on as more men are unloaded on the beaches. I would like to consider every amf. assault as an attack on a lvl 10fort in the regard that It would begin with a -99% combat penalty that would lessen as the fight goes on (but much quicker then vs a lvl 10 fort if your doctrines/troops/transports are modern.)
3.
My final concern is applied to all kinds of elite units (marines, airborne & mountain). Both amf. landings, air drops and mountain assault versus defending troops suffered MUCH higher casualty rates than any other kind of fighting. It was not uncommon for attackers to lose over half their men within hours after leaving the boats / airplanes if the defender was prepared for them. So Dramatically increase casualtys in this kind of fighting (around x2-4 times). A failed amf assault should end with many many dead, failed airdrops behind enemy lines could have 75%+ KIA or captured.
In conclution I think that amf. assaults in HoI2 are way too easy, make us HAVE to use the massive shore bombardment fleets and airbombings the allies had to use to support them. A landing is always very far from any ordinary assault even with special troops trained for it.
